To ask if this could be adult-onset asthma?

Since having COVID around 2 years ago whenever I get a cold I end up with a dry cough that lasts several weeks. The cough has a high pitched wheezing/whistling noise but is dry. I can’t find any examples of the cough on YouTube, it doesn’t sound like croup or whooping cough or any of those, the only thing I can compare it to is Wheezy’s cough in Toy Story lol… I don’t have any other asthma symptoms, and I’m young and otherwise healthy. Could this be asthma or is it just the norm for me now after having COVID?

The first time I had a cold after COVID I went to the GP about the cough as it was the first time I’d had a lingering cough for several weeks so I wanted to get it checked out, but by the time I got my appointment it had nearly stopped and the nurse said my chest sounded clear and it was likely a stubborn virus.

The gp was telling us that most coughs are lingering on average 5/6 weeks now so could be that too but I’ve been the same and am on an inhaler for two weeks (had Covid in September and coughing since) and they said they’ll see from there

Do you use any plug in air fresheners or those sticks in oil or scented candles? My sister does have asthma and they make it a little worse.

It could be but there are other possibilities. I thought I was developing asthma but it turned out to be sarcoidosis . Hopefully it’s just one of those lingering coughs that are about but if it persists for months it might be an idea to have a chest x ray to make sure.

No I don’t use any air fresheners. This is probably the third virus I’ve had where I’ve developed a wheezy cough in the last two years

Since having COVID in march 2020 I have the same and currently mapping out my peak flow for an asthma nurse. Brought on by the cold, exercise (I'm fairly fit so this is new) and if I get a virus, the cough lasts ages. Can't prove it's COVID related but I was fine before!

Thank you for your replying. It seems that for asthma that develops in adults a viral infection is a pretty common initial trigger.

May I ask what symptoms you went to the nurse/GP with initially and how severe they were? I'm worried that I'm overreacting, and they'll just tell me it's normal
