I get very worried about safety and just don’t know what to use? I used a Milton wipe but it’s not fully got it out of the belt

You should be able to remove the straps completely if you turn the seat upside down. Then soak in bicarb of soda and cold water and wash with dettol laundry disinfectant.

Take straps out and put on a cold wash

Carseatsick · 06/01/2024 09:33

Thanks I didn’t think you were supposed to get them too wet! I don’t think these can be removed though, that was the first thing I tried

Urgh memories of having to clean a car seat at centre parcs with no washing machine!

I think we just brought a bucket of water with Dettol and dabbed away. You'll need to get the strap properly wet to clean it I imagine, no dry way to remove sick! Car seat is still going strong a few years on, no sign of wear on the straps.

I think i dismantled mine and put it all in the washing machine

It was vile!

  • Science goggles (swim goggles will do)
  • Marigolds
  • A book called 'it's not rocket science' for instructions.
  • and get an adult to help you.
greenacrylicpaint · 06/01/2024 10:16

whoever said you shouldn't get these 'too wet' has never had a child puke on them...

CharlotteBog · 06/01/2024 14:35

They can get wet. I don't think they would pass safety tests if they didn't work so well if they got wet.
Follow the instructions.
I recommend taking photos as you remove them -makes it a lot easier to see how they go back!
