To think fairies have taken my children and left changelings in their place?

It's early evening. Everyone has eaten dinner and the kitchen is already tidied up. All the children have done their homework and music practice. Nobody is saying they're bored or squabbling with a sibling or complaining that the Xbox has switched off at 7 p.m. The peace and quiet is unnatural. I don't know what to do with myself! What on earth has gone wrong with my children? This time yesterday they were playing an extremely boisterous board game and then refusing to go to bed.

Did you drug their dinner? If so please send me some!

StuntNun · 04/01/2024 19:27

Maybe burgers and chips have a soporific effect?!

Nights like this are magical and to be appreciated as you won’t get another for 3 months

StuntNun · 04/01/2024 19:29

I don't think I've had one in ever and my oldest child is 21 next week!

Make the most of it! I once had a friend who sneaked an antidepressant supplement into her MILs breakfast juice when MIL was visiting for a month. I dont condone it, but it was a much pleasanter visit than usual.

Mine did this the other day - we took them on a day out, no fighting, engaged, followed instructions. Went for dinner, sat nicely and did some colouring in while we waited, went to bed no problem....

Back to being little gits the very next day. It was nice while it lasted.

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 04/01/2024 20:02

They're sickening for something and will be up in the night!(sorry!!!)

Noicant · 04/01/2024 20:07

Clearly planning something, I’d sleep with one eye open if I were you.

unlikelychump · 04/01/2024 20:08

My kids are all playing board games collaboratively, even the autistic one . 😍

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 04/01/2024 20:10

The night is yet young.

Jojobees · 04/01/2024 20:10

It’s contagious, my two have been incredibly well behaved all day….

Anontocomment · 04/01/2024 20:10

Definitely the pictsies. I only have one though so did get off fairly lightly. No sibling quarrels although the ones with me were epic!

StrangeNew · 04/01/2024 20:14

Here for the revelation of what they want, and how much it’s going to cost you, @StuntNun !

StuntNun · 04/01/2024 21:24

They went to bed on time and are now fast asleep. Best evening ever!

Even the 21 year old!

Did they start school today?

StuntNun · 05/01/2024 10:49

Lol no @MerryMarigold but my youngest two did! They went back to school on Tuesday (apart from the oldest who is at uni.)

Hmm must be something in the air. After watching back to back episodes of Good Omens obsessively all weekend, my nearly-teen announced an hour ago, "I'm really tired and I'm going to bed."
The last time they went to bed so early was about 3 years ago.

Vonesk · 07/01/2024 22:42

I don't see how that's LEGAL.

Longwhiskers · 08/01/2024 06:34

We had this on new year’s day. Spent the morning playing together which they never do. Angels all day. Next day they were back to shouting and arguments before breakfast had even hit the table.

Sorry, this actually happens
