Only bought it as it was on offer so cheapest available. I tried to follow the instructions on the jar and STILL, coffee everywhere.

Yes.

Firstly, don't change packaging for no reason (eg agave syrup who have randomly changed the seal they use to something much more awkward although now I know how it works it's ok)

Secondly, check if an elderly/disabled person can open it!

It's a bit like the user interfaces on websites. Some are great and easy to use. Some are awful and have clearly never been tested properly or at all.

I could offer myself as a tester for fool-proof packaging and websites

Agree. Always have to have scissors and various implements to hand.

Child proof anything is me proof. The bane of my life are bleach bottles.

If only there were less need for packaging in general and more sustainable ways to buy and store and reuse things.

Hate that as a consumer it's so hard to get around it. I mean you can spend hours looking for products with less packaging or visit a shop that does refills but you will usually pay much more either with your time or with your purse. Which makes it unattainable for many.

The fact you need scissors to open scissors always pisses me off. Also new cola lids. And washing tab tubs.

The scissors one can be quite a problem if you're buying them because you don't have any.

Bleach caps I manage to wrestle off once and then don't ever fully screw up again.

I have arthritis and my hands are especially bad and im tired of these shitty caps and lids that you need to be able to pinch to open. I cant pinch. Fucks me off
