Let's hope it makes a difference.
The school I work at was inspected earlier this year. The lead inspector was absolutely vile. She went out of her way to twist things people said- positives twisted into negatives. She was rude and unpleasant. There were staff crying behind closed doors all over the place and everyone felt that everything we were doing was worthless.

we ended up with a largely positive report.Despite that everyone was traumatised.

I am so sad and angry about what happened to Ruth Perry. I'm a primary teacher and am fairly local to her school. My own experiences of Ofsted have been mixed and it depends on the inspectors you get, but the anxiety in the run-up and the pressure on staff is awful. I remember one inspector complaining the progress of a certain group of children in our early years classes wasn't good enough... It was a small school, and one of the children in question had been off school most of the year waiting for a heart transplant... His progress was that he was alive, but apparently that wasn't good enough!

Something needs to change, fast. I find it completely shocking that an organisation which is meant to improve things for children is at the point where they need to set out how they are going to make sure that those children's teachers don't kill themselves...
