To think adult life is just so hard?

One thing after another going wrong, the car MOT due and making strange noises, the boiler, things breaking in the house, mold growing on walls because of needing to dry clothes indoors, meal planning, life admin, making sure 5 year old DS is clean and presentable, fed and entertained. Organising play dates, struggling financially, everything seeming so difficult.

mold

I try and make the effort to only do life admin a couple of times a week for a limited amount of time in the evening. e.g. 7.30-8.30pm once DD in bed, and then the rest of the evening is mine to relax. Do things in blocks of time and then it doesn't feel like its seeping stress into all areas of your life.

Get a dehumidifier for the mold. Air out the house with open windows (even on the coldest day) when you get up for 15 mins before turning heating on.

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 01/01/2024 15:18

I agree op - it's relentless.

Danikm151 · 01/01/2024 15:22

It’s hard!

It feels like one thing after another and then catch 22 situations too.

Skint, go to work, pay for childcare, pay day comes then bills and skint again.

FlyingSoap · 01/01/2024 15:27

YANBU. It can all get on top and there always seems to be something, doesn’t there.

Ffs!
Yes OP it is overwhelming :(

traintractor · 01/01/2024 15:55

Yes it is hard. I recommend one of those heated drying racks they are brilliant.

WhichIsItWendy · 01/01/2024 15:57

YANBU. That's why family is so important in my opinion. People to lean on and lighten the load when needed.

Also, remember the young ages dont last forever. It will only get easier as they age (I know some say it gets harder but that's not true in my experience).

WishIwasElsa · 01/01/2024 15:58

@Animalloveruropiniondntmatter

Just why ? Life is hard and overwhelming at times and it's ok to admit your struggling sometimes. My reccommendation is little and often as it helps keep on top of things. Little routines of daily jobs help everything keep flowing along.

Thepeopleversuswork · 01/01/2024 16:04

It is relentless sometimes, yes.

TBH though I'd rather be overwhelmed and busy with a life that's interesting and challenging than have one that's predictable and dull. I'd be bored out of my tree if I didn't have something to keep me on my toes.

It's a trade off isn't it. Personally I find being bored more stressful than being busy. But that's a personal take and most people seem not to agree with this.

I hear ya
But this too shall pass
Chin up x

Yellowpumpkins · 01/01/2024 16:26

@WhichIsItWendy

We don’t really have any family to help out. That’s the problem.

But it doesn't always pass, does it?

It's like this for years, if not decades.

Skethylita · 01/01/2024 16:59

Some years feel like this; I know my 2023 did. But the good thing is, it doesn't stay like that.

We tend to buy many things at the same time, e.g. new appliances when we move house, so then they do also all tend to break at the same time.

There will be better years.

girlfriend44 · 01/01/2024 17:21

Yes one said life was easy.

Thankfully there are some good bits thrown in too.

Shadowsindarkplaces · 01/01/2024 17:48

Being a grown up is a con! When you are a kid..
'you can do that when you're older'
'the whole world is there'
'you can do whatever you set your mind to'

then bang..you make decisions that take away those so-called choices.
Bah...can you tell I'm unimpressed with adulting. 😂
