To add 20k to my mortgage?

I'm not actually sure it's possible. Does anyone know if it is?

We have around 20k in debt and we were wondering if we could add it to the mortgage, or borrow the money and add to the mortgage to pay off the debt.

Its costing us loads monthly to pay it off.

We looked into balance rransfer but couldn't find anyone with a high enough limit. Could find only 5k limits.

We have 6.6k on credit card. 1.5k on one Overdraft and 1k on another.

(Plus 10k loan but would leave that as is) .

If you are paying interest on your credit card you can still reduce the amount of interest you are paying even if you can't transfer everything.

E.g. if you are paying say 26% a year on £6600 and you can only get a card that allows you to transfer £4000 at 0% for 18 months for a 3.9% fee that take the transfer to reduce the borrowing on the 4k. Pay the minimum amount you need to on the low interest card and as much as you can on the high interest card. You or your partner might even be able to get another card for the remaining amount.

@OP - first thing I would do is search for @TalkinPeace who has very good advice for paying off debt.

Use this to check which credit cards you are likely to be successful in getting. If you can get the interest down to 0%, or a lower rate than you're currently on, you'll be in a better position to throw money at the actual debt rather than pay interest.

Even if you only get a £4k limit at 0%, then that's debt you aren't paying interest on.

While you're on that page, click on the links to find more info about good debt management.
