Step dad has been ill since before Christmas day. He has on and off spent most of his time in bed since about the 23rd.

He felt a little better a couple of days ago but that only lasted 24h. I stayed over last night and he was wondering around the house coughing most of the night. It sounds like it's moved on to his chest.

He's old and cantankerous and medically complex.

Aibu to some how step and and force my stubborn step dad to call 111? I don't really know what to do with him

I would, sounds like a chest infection at least. To be honest this sounds like my parents! They get more difficult as they get older lol

I was ill before Xmas and my worst symptom was lack of sleep due to coughing all night, and I mean all night. I ended up on antibiotics, and I found Night Nurse to be my saviour.

He's still in bed. I've tried tackling my mum about it and she's shrugged it off and said "he won't." I'm really concerned about how his chest sounds.

I know mum is ready for me to go home shortly but step dad will probably be in bed all morning. I'm so torn on what to do

If he won’t accept help you need to leave him to it.

He's given me permission to call 111. I'm so relieved. He's quite breathless and his cough sounds awful
