So it seems there is no desire for a pint of champagne but there is for 500 ml of champagne

Article in the Mail last week was praising the return of a pint of Champagne. This is a link to the same article - but it was edited to change the word pint to 50 cl.

The entire article was altered.

You can see that 500 ml is a good size - 4 125 ml glasses or 2 250 ml glasses.

Rathfinny, featured in this, have been campaigning for 500 ml bottles of sparkling wine.

You can see if you Google Rathfinny, that there are a lot of quotes that they have laid down pint bottles

Brexit news: UK looking at reinstating Winston Churchill favourite EU stopped | UK | News | Express.co.uk

"Rathfinny Estate, which produces sparkling wine in Sussex and produced 800 pint-sized bottles in the wake of the UK voting to leave, was campaigning for the return of the "modern pint" before Brexit.
Mark Driver, co-owner of the winemaker, told The Telegraph: "If this change in legislation is forthcoming, this is great news and something we have been lobbying hard for."

And then in the Guardian

English wine producers unlikely to adopt ‘redundant’ pint option | Wine | The Guardian

“We don’t understand why the government has introduced a pint measure for wine after consulting the industry and being told that no one seems to favour going back to imperial measures,” Mark Driver, a co-owner of the estate, told the Guardian.
Rathfinny has previously campaigned to be allowed to produce sparkling wine in half-litre bottles, in line with permitted sizes for still wine, and welcomed the chance to adopt the metric measure.
“It’s the perfect-sized bottle for a couple to share, as it offers four (125ml) glasses of sparkling wine – as opposed to six in a 75cl standard bottle,” Driver said.

Looks like a lot of miscommunication between a pint and 500 ml.

In the fact, the whole article is talking about 50 cl of sparkling wine, rather than a pint of champagne, which is what the excitement was all about for some

Pint bottle of champagne to return to Britain as ministers prepare to overturn EU ban | Daily Mail Online

"The move marks a victory for the Rathfinny Estate, which produces sparkling wine in East Sussex and laid down 800 pint-sized bottles in the wake of the Leave vote.
The winery, which has been campaigning for the return of the pint of champagne since long before Brexit, hopes to release a batch of sparkling wine in pint-sized bottles late next year if the rule is ripped up in time.
Winery co-owner Mark Driver said: 'This is great news and something we've been lobbying hard for.'"

I guess they are keen to correct any misconceptions about them doing pints and it would have been a bit boring to say they were looking forward to serving 500 ml bottles and had laid down 800 500 ml bottles.

Pint bottle of champagne to return to Britain

The serving, once a favourite of Winston Churchill, who hailed it the 'ideal size', was outlawed in 1973 when Britain joined the Common Market.
