Are they even allowed to knock on your door at that time?
I didn’t answer as I could see the big charity logo on the Ring doorbell camera

i think unsolicited callers should only come in daylight hours to be honest,if at all, although that’s a short day right now. so yes I agree with you .

I think there are rules about charity workers approaching you on the street (I think they’re only supposed to follow you for 3-4 steps or something), so wondered if there was something about what time they could knock on your door??

I never answer my door to anyone I don't know.

They are knocking on your door because they want your money.

They are never knocking on your door because they want to give you some of their money.

What charity was it?

technically they are allowed to ring your doorbell until 9pm, usually last door knock is 8:30pm so they can get donation processed and verified by 9pm.

Just say no thank you and ask them not to call at your property again. If they do, contact the charity with door bell footage and they will be reprimanded. You will be placed on a do not knock then by the marketing company who are working on behalf of the charity, it is rarely the charity direct.

Why so annoyed? They are trying to raise money for the charity, all they did was knock and you didn't answer.

I guess 8:30 is a bit on the late side but the danger has passed.

Thanks very much, I didn’t know it was prior to their cut off. I suppose because it’s been dark for about 3 hours at that time it seems a bit late.

I have a message on my door no charity people and they have stopped.

Yes I think these signs are pretty effective, they do not want to waste their time and also have to be responsible around vulnerable householders so have to respect them.

I've a sign and it stopped all charities
