To ask where to get a nice artificial Christmas tree in the sales?

I thought there might be some bargains to be had in the sales, ready for next year.
(We’re in London, don’t have a car and have decided we can’t be bothered with the faff of buying a real one each year.)
However I can’t see any online in naice shops like John Lewis.
There are slim pickings in Argos. And Homebase and B&Q aren’t much better. There seem to be some only available in stores and I need one delivered ideally.

Has anyone seen any nice ones elsewhere? I’d like a 5 or 6 foot one, budget up to £50.

Whitehall Garden Centre.

Apologies if they don’t deliver. I live 10 miles away so no need. But they do have a website.

Poppyseed14 · 26/12/2023 19:25

To be honest OP your budget probably isn't going to get you a really decent artificial tree. 😔

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 26/12/2023 19:25

They’re not on sale yet. Maybe give it a week.

Omgwhatthehell · 26/12/2023 19:27

Thanks @TheLightSideOfTheMoon
Just had a look and unfortunately it looks like they don’t have any for sale online. Which is a shame as it looks like a lovely shop!

What do all these places do with them after Christmas?! I’d have thought there might be a few in the sale somewhere.

@Poppyseed14 it doesn’t have to be amazing. Just not shit!
I figured there might be some half decent looking ones reduced.

@TheLightSideOfTheMoon sorry, just seen that you said they might be on sale in a week. Will keep an eye out!

Balsam hill. Have a sale on but they will probably go down even more in the summer!

MakeItRain · 26/12/2023 19:38

Wayfair seem to have lots on sale, online.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/12/2023 19:40

WeRChristmas has a 50% sale right now.

Poppyseed14 · 26/12/2023 19:42

One thing I would say OP is beware a site called WeRChristmas. I ordered a tree from them at the end of November and didn't receive it. They don't have a phone number to contact them. Their Facebook page is full of many unhappy comments. I did finally get a refund but I was out £150 for quite a while and they are also terrible at replying to emails. Don't get sucked in. ❤️

@NoWordForFluffy cross posted with you. Have a look at my comment if you're thinking of ordering.

Omgwhatthehell · 26/12/2023 19:44

Ooh @drowningintinsel that might not be a bad idea to wait until the summer!
That’s when I normally buy winter coats or boots, so I should have thought of that.

I've ordered from there loads. Never had an issue.

You've been lucky. This year has been an absolute nightmare.

RNBrie · 26/12/2023 19:47

I bought one at Charlie's online last week. Hasn't been delivered yet but there were discounts already all over the place. Most of the Homebase ones were already out of stock... I'd look at your local garden centre this week, ours had discounts on 24th but again not a lot left in stock.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/12/2023 19:48

If you're wary, pay through PayPal as then they'll provide a refund. Or your bank will do a chargeback, and credit cards a s75 claim.

Plenty of ways to get money back from companies if it goes wrong.

But, I've honestly never had an issue from WRC after about 10 orders from them.

You've been lucky. This year has been an absolute nightmare.

I got both of my pre-Christmas orders without bother this year!

edgeware · 26/12/2023 19:52

Balsam Hill ones aren’t cheap but I still love mine after 6, 7 years?

Poppyseed14 · 26/12/2023 19:53

I did pay with PayPal. Though I wish I had checked out their Facebook page before I ordered. So many people let down by them. Glad you were one of the lucky ones ❤️❤️ mind you, ordering in January for next year is probably a lot less stressful!

Omgwhatthehell · 26/12/2023 19:56

Oooh, WeRChristmas and Charlie’s seem to have a couple of contenders!
Thanks for the tip about paying through PayPal. It’s definitely a good idea.

Ikea have good ones for your budget and M&S- sorry I don't know if theirs are in the sale but they do look lovely.

Omgwhatthehell · 26/12/2023 19:58

@RNBrie we’re only a few miles from Central London so unfortunately not in prime garden centre territory.
There’s not even a B&Q or anything for a few miles. So ideally I’ll get one delivered.

@Omgwhatthehell I have the 5' version of that (I think- it is maybe 9 years old!) and it is not very bushy but enough for the height. They do have more expensive ones that are filled out more. Hope you find one!

Omgwhatthehell · 26/12/2023 20:22

They don’t deliver it to my area otherwise I’d be tempted as it actually looks very realistic!
