Where do I want to go to celebrate my 30th Birthday?

It'll just be DH and I, we've gone back and forth between Orlando and Japan but I'm wondering if there's something I'm not thinking about and would really enjoy.

Please give me some ideas - the £7000 possibly £8000 is for everything so flights, accommodation, activities and spending money.

Give me some good ideas please lovely mumnetters!

Thank you.

It's hard to suggest if we don't know anything about you and what you like to do 😅

I'm easy going haha I'll research and suggestions.

TBH for the last 8 years it's all been thill holidays like Orlando, Las Vegas, LA, Japan with the odd Spain holiday but I've always been to a Disney park (because I am that person) so don't know if I fancy something completely different.

Safari.

Appleblum · 24/12/2023 16:46

Japan definitely. I much prefer the food there vs USA, and everything about the country is comfortable. Even love their warm toilet seats in winter.

If you're a big theme park fan I'd fly into Tokyo, go to Disneyland/ Disney sea, then take the train to Osaka for USJ. There's also a new studio ghibli theme park in aichi.

We just did 12 days in Boston & NY, last week October first wee November.

BlowDryRat · 24/12/2023 16:51

Mexico - Riviera Maya. It's quieter in November with very good weather during the day and has tonnes to do, including Maya-themed adventure parks.

coxesorangepippin · 24/12/2023 16:59

Vermont/Boston could be good, especially given the season

Starreyskies · 24/12/2023 17:05

I'd fly to vancouver, go on a whalespotting trip, then have a road trip to Banff and back again. Stop at lake Louise and jasper. Looks beautiful 😍

Japan and Orlando are very different holidays. What are you after?

They don't have to be. We'd probably do Disney and universal in them both but I know they have very cultural differences and things to do as well.

I've been to both which is why we're undecided but there is some good suggestions on this thread I'm gonna have a look into. Thanks everyone

2jacqi · 24/12/2023 17:20

@Dahliaxnoir why not try Bali? it is lovely there! or even singapore or hong kong or dubai. they are not just stop over places.

IIdentifyAsInnocent · 24/12/2023 17:22

Thailand. We went in October last year and it was amazing. Going back in February.... For £7k you will live like a queen

Jessforless · 24/12/2023 17:24

100% Japan, we’re massive Disney fans and this is our next planned trip. Exactly what a PP suggested, Tokyo Disney and then the bullet train to Osaka for Universal. Can take a short train from Osaka to Kyoto too, and the bullet train has views of Mount Fuji.

I'm really tempted to but I don't know if it's doable in 10 days.

I'm interested in Thailand.. it's just I'm a big softy when it comes to animals and would probably cry seeing the strays and what they do to live stock (which I appreciate is hypocritical when we have slaughter houses but ignorance is bliss).

Can that be avoided in the main tourist areas?

Australia might be a bit far for 10 days but I'll check out Canada, we have an aunty there somewhere so maybe we can get free accommodation Grin

We’re doing 10 days because of the kids half term.

Friends of ours did it in a week 😅

Freixene · 24/12/2023 17:47

South Africa or Costa Rica for me

letmeeatinpeace · 24/12/2023 17:53

Japan is amazing, though ideally would go for longer. The jet lag is pretty intense.

SometimesMaybe · 24/12/2023 17:56

Costa Rica
South Africa
New York/Boston
