To ask how much your car insurance is?

Mines due for renewal next month so just looking at quotes now. All of them are more expensive than what I currently pay per month.

For reference, I'm a 26 year old female with 6 years no claims and only drive a small 1.2 car. I've also put my mum on as a named driver.

Is there any way to get it for cheaper or is just a case of accepting that it is going to be more expensive? After 6 years of driving I would have thought it would come down just a bit 😩

I think everyone's insurance has gone up massively at the most recent renewal, regardless of age, no claims, etc. I think "coming down just a bit" this year equates to "not going up quite as much as the average".

@lanthanum It's ridiculous. The insurance companies are milking it!

The difference between 6 and 5 years clean is pretty small and probably less than the inflation in car parts over the last year.

I'd have hoped that being 26 would give you more choice, but maybe 25 is the breakpoint where firms stop viewing you as young and reckless.

Since you've already shopped around the only advice I can give is to point you to the MSE page on top car insurance tips, but it's very likely that you will have to pay more.

I've only looked on Money Supermarket so far. I'll try Compare The Market to see if any other providers come up

I currently pay £26 a month but seem to have got that price just before the big rise last year so I’m expecting that to shoot in in March. (40, full no claims, boring car)

Not necessarily
there are lots of factors but the price of fixing cars, mostly due to availability and price of spare parts, has rocketed.

As the name suggests I only started driving this year, 1.2 petrol 11 plate.
£143 a month and that's with the bare minimum (no breakdown cover or extras) the payment for the car itself is £7 a month more.
Some companies refused to quote me at all.
I'm 43 but as a new driver, no no claims and live in an area that's got a bit of a reputation for car crime, it's the cheapest I could get.
Was hoping with no accidents (fingers crossed) that it'd go down but doesn't look like it ever will!

I had heard car insurance had got a lot more expensive but I renewed end of August past and my quote only increased by £20 year on year. I pay 340 annually, including windscreen and legal but not breakdown cover. I have 17 years driving experience and 9 years no claims other than windscreen replacement.
