In case it get stolen - particularly at this time of the year when the number of pickpockets and other scumbags are out in force.

Its heartbreaking seeing people upset at having lost hugely sentimental items which you know have been just chucked away without any thought.

I know I'm NBU btw!

Yes I remember my mum having her purse stolen once and she was more sad about losing a little charm she'd had since a child, little photos and notes her children had written for her than the money. I think thankfully most people don't have purses anymore as they don't carry cash

and back up any photos on your phone to the cloud or something similar so you dont lose them if your phone gets stolen

A little while ago I bought an ornament to
go on my grandparents' grave. Took me
ages to find it (it was sentimental and unique)and even longer to take it to the grave because of COVID. I put it in my baby's changing bag (which was just a normal looking backpack) and stopped off at a shopping centre on my way to the grave. Some scumbag stole the changing bag while I wasn't looking and knicked the nappies and wipes and the ornament. They discarded the bag, which security later returned to me. It wasn't an expensive or
Impressive ornament so I know whoever did it will just have thrown it away.

That's what upset me. That something that I'd put so much thought into probably just got chucked.

A few years ago when I was walking the dog I found a handbag that had obviously been stolen then thrown away. There wasn’t anything of valve left in it but what seemed a few personal things.
I took it to the police station and I hope the owner got it back.
