To think DH and Grandma was a bit rude about my weight.

I'm fat and I know I'm fat and hoping to lose it as I'm on a calorie counting diet (after Christmas as want to enjoy the festivities but still not going over 2000kcal)

I'm currently 105kg and I was in hospital a couple of days ago and the doctor made an estimated guess of my weight and said 90kg ( I don't know why they couldn't weigh me).

I was telling my grandma what the doctor said and she replied "well what are you 18 stone?" when I'm obviously not and DH scoffed and said "she's definitely not 14 stone" and they both had a bit of a laugh.

I know I'm fat and they both know I struggle with my weight and I know I'm probably being a bit soft but it really upset me.

I guess aibu but just felt really unnecessary.

At 105kg you’re not that far off 18 stone so I’m not sure what your point is really. Seems you were the one who starting talking about your weight.

Thank you for your reply.

I guess fat people aren't allowed to mention their weight unless they want to be laughed and scoffed at.

Yes it does seem like they were laughing at you and scoffing at you I agree.
So yes I'd be upset with that

It's obvious what the OP's point is - they were laughing at her weight.🙄

Her actual weight is irrelevant - whether she's 60 stone, 16 stone or even 6 stone, that is not on.

You’re either being deliberately facetious or you’re just dense. Clearly they were mocking the OP. It’s disgusting and cruel and not on. I fail to see the relevance of OP having raised her weight.

PaperDoIIs · 22/12/2023 19:38

Did you tell them it upset you?

Whattodo112222 · 22/12/2023 19:43

Both of them were cruel..doesn't matter what you weigh, mocking you for it is out of order..
I suppose your husband is a rippling adonis is he?...

Thank you for the replies everyone. Glad I wasn't being too unreasonable for being upset.

I've mentioned it to DH and he has apologised and said he shouldn't have done it but the thing is he's overweight and unhappy with it and I never would have scoffed at him and laughed.

I'm genuinely considering being petty and next time he wants sex to say " I'm obviously not 14 stone so no" but probably won't.

My grandma has emotionally abused me my entire life so won't say anything to her and didn't expect any different but more upset with DH but trying to move past it since he said sorry.

Hopefully in 2024 I can drop the pounds and 14 stone won't be so unbelievable.
