I know I’m probably going to get one thing of hubby as he’s not into buying gifts for each other.

aibu to buy myself some gifts? Or is that a bit odd? I hate having nothing to open on Xmas.

I buy gifts for my kids to give to me . And cards . Else I wouldn’t get anything .

littlejellyfish · 20/12/2023 21:33

I am my favourite person to buy gifts for 😂
do it!

AngelontopoftheTree · 20/12/2023 21:34

If you want to do it, then do so.
I bought myself a birthday present this year, a very nice (read expensive) present as I wouldn't expect anyone else to spend that much.

Singleandproud · 20/12/2023 21:34

I always buy myself gifts, in fact I buy them throughout the year and wrap them so I've forgotten what's in them by the time Christmas comes.

When DD was little I would hint heavily about what I wanted for Christmas and then the Elf would deliver them to her with wrapping supplies and she would proudly present them to me Christmas morning.

BCBird · 20/12/2023 21:34

Why not? Easy present to buy surely? Uou get pleasure in the hiring and receiving. Win win

SassiestPants · 20/12/2023 21:35

I am extremely generous to myself at Christmas and I don't give it a second thought 🤶

Yes, I think lots of Mums do this. Santa brings me a stocking. My DH does most of it my adult DC add a little something and if I see something I fancy I just get it, wrap it and pop it in. DH thinks one of my kids got it and my kids think either a sibling or DH must have got it for me.

Lazytakeawaymum · 20/12/2023 21:36

you’ve all managed to convince me! Merry Christmas to me 🤣

That's genius!

I get myself a gift from the dog.

I do the same throughout the year, so i have treats to unwrap.

pizzaHeart · 20/12/2023 21:40

I do this. I wrap it properly, stick a label and put it under the tree. First time I did it DD looked so surprised when she pulled it out 🤣 - she clearly remembered that her and dad didn’t wrap that one.

TreeseletJoy · 20/12/2023 21:44

I've been a single parent for a decade and I always buy myself really nice things for Christmas, I literally give myself a budget of a few hundred quid and buy things I want! Always an Aspinall diary with my initials on it, sometimes jewellery or a scarf, this year all three as I started early lol.

AnnieKayTee · 20/12/2023 21:45

I have! And I've gifted it to myself early 🤣 bought myself a perfume I used to wear when I was a young 18 year old. Merry Christmas to me. 😁

TikkaDhal · 20/12/2023 21:54

I have and have found I’m not alone. We always appreciate the well-chosen gifts. Merry Christmas to all of us!
(I sometimes do it for my birthday too.)

Love it 😊
I've already got myself some - la vie est belle.
Given the receipt to dh and he's transferred the money over.
