AIBU to say I really don't want what he's planning on getting me?

Is it unreasonable to gently tell someone that now really isn't a good time for the gift they want to buy you?
I am currently in the process of massively decluttering and don't feel I have the time/space for what my father has told me he would like to get me because frankly everything is covered in stuff being sorted out and I just couldn't think of anywhere to store it safely, and also for it to be worthwhile he'd have to purchase a hugely expensive model and i don't want anyone spending that much on me.
If NBU to say so, how would you phrase it?

Shit sandwich time!

You have always been grateful for his love and appreciate all he does for you. His gifts are always treasured as a sign of that love.

HOWEVER you are worried that he is thinking of getting you a Thingy, and right now, that wouldn't bring the benefits to you that he would like you to receive, because decluttering etc.

So... could he express his love for you, this time round, in a present that's not Enormous Expensive Thing.

Might be an idea if you can suggest one or two other ideas which are somehow related but will be received with the delight which the gift is intended to produce!

Basically lean into the, you know he gets you presents because he loves you and you want to honour that intention by making sure he has the full picture.

"Thanks for the thought Dad but I really don't want that - especially as I don't have space for it"

What's the gift? Your Dad won't be on Mumsnet so you can tell us!
