To expect if I’ve paid for the black sack to be taken away

That it actually gets taken. We pay £3 per black sack sticker so AIBU to say that it’s an absolute joke that the bin men don’t take them.

I’m actually going to wait up for the bin man tonight and go out and confront him as it’s ridiculous that the bins go every other week and then they don’t take them and I’m stuck with trash for 2 weeks.

You pay per bin bag?

Cosytoesie · 18/12/2023 01:29

Yes I do.

Are you in the UK?

Hermittrismegistus · 18/12/2023 01:31

How odd. Is there a reason they might not have taken it? Here they won't empty the bin if the lid is so much as 0.005 of a millimetre open.

dontgobaconmyheart · 18/12/2023 01:32

I think I would be more inclined to call whichever company/council/ arranges this paid collection and deal with it that way, politely.

Going out to confront a random refuse collector isn't likely to get you far, in fact they'll probably just make a point of leaving it and deny all knowledge.

stepintochristmas1 · 18/12/2023 01:32

I've never heard of a black sack sticker , and you're going to stay up all night ? Trash , are you UK ?

Cosytoesie · 18/12/2023 01:33

You pay £3 for a 90 litre black sack. Obviously with nappies etc these can be heavy however it doesn’t say a weight yet they won’t take them. It’s really frustrating to pay for them and have them still sat there.

WandaWonder · 18/12/2023 01:41

So you don't have bin?

Cosytoesie · 18/12/2023 01:44

No you can’t put the wheely bin out they wouldn’t touch it, you have to put your black sacks on pavement with prepaid sticker on.

Thedogscollar · 18/12/2023 01:48

@Cosytoesie is this the council that collect your trash or a private company?
Are you American living in UK as you call the rubbish trash?

Cosytoesie · 18/12/2023 01:52

It’s the council and no I’m in the uk.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 18/12/2023 02:29

Being utterly nosey, but where abouts in the uk are you? Just so I don’t make the mistake of moving or even holidaying there.
Yanbu btw. If that’s the system they should take the bag. Tough luck for them if it’s heavy or ripped by animals as it sounds bonkers.

Quisto · 18/12/2023 03:50

That wouldn't work here, we have Shitehawks and have to buy " seagull" proof bags. If any rubbish is " missed " we can ring up the council and a small van usually turns up at some point to take it away, maybe that's possible where you live?

hellywelly3 · 18/12/2023 04:09

We had this central London, so many rules about what time you could put it out etc. if it got the slightest rip they wouldn’t take it.

Cosytoesie · 18/12/2023 08:49

It has left the place in a mess since this came in. Ripped bins left around and fly tipping is rife.

We already pay £116 for bins to be taken annually so the stickers on top seem a bit of a joke considering how poor the collections are. Two black sack collections a month!

BettyUnderswoob · 18/12/2023 08:54

Fucking hell. I thought our rubbish collection was a bit lacking, but now I think it's quite OK having read this. You have to pay for rubbish collection???
I can only assume that this means you pay lower council tax!
