Tesco clubcard price

Bought several boxes of Christmas treats for friends which had the special Tesco Clubcard price, nearly half price. I forgot to let the cashier scan my Clubcard and then didn't realise. I also didn't get the receipt though have the transaction showing on my debit card. Yes I'd forget my head if it wasn't screwed on and all that.

AIBU for thinking I should go back and ask for a refund and the discount to be applied?

They can adjust it at customer services. I forgot to scan mine once - just about to pay and the tit of a man who'd gone through before me suddenly decided he wanted the receipt he'd told the cashier to throw away, and barged in asking for it, and with all the faffing of her going through the bin, my routine was thrown off.

I don't think they'll do that. You generally can't get refunds on food.

How on earth do you think you can prove you bought them at Tesco if you don't have a receipt? Confused. The transaction on your debit card statement will just show an amount not list the items you bought.

Yep they’ll be able to find the transaction based on the card you used if you tell them the rough time

I think it’s going to be tricky without a receipt!

You might be able to show that you spent £x at Tesco on y date, but your bank statement isn’t going to show which products you bought at Tesco.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to go in and politely ask as long as you don’t get angry or arsey if they’re not able to do anything, especially without the receipt. This was your error so they are not obliged to fix it but there’s no harm in asking.

Here they can scan your debit card at customer service and it will bring up transactions associated with the card.

How did you not notice that the total was higher before you paid?

I have issues with my online shopping about once in every three or four deliveries. I just WhatsApp Tesco and they sort it very easily with no fuss. I would imagine they’d be helpful if you provided them with the information about the transaction in this case too. The online shopping customer service is very good (although the picking isn’t always great), anyway.

Return them and then go straight back and re purchase them with your clubcard. I doubt they would retrospectively apply the discount.

I’ve done this a few times, the staff happily refund the CC difference.

Not done it without a receipt but I’m sure they’ll work something out.

A cashier paid me a fiver short the other day.

Luckily I have the receipt. I'm hoping they can tell the till was up five quid, as it was works petty cash and i didnt check the change until a couple of days later.

Go back with as much information as you can, which till, time and date. They can pull up your receipt but it will be much easier with all relevant details. We would absolutely refund you and then sell them back to you with your clubcard applied.
Contrary to popular opinion we would actually like our customers to be happy when they leave the store.

Why do you need to be brave, just explain and ask them politely for the discount, I'd imagine it happens all the time

defo go in politely with the stuff you bought & say you got 3 of these due to club card price but forgot to scan as you were distracted - ask can they refund so you can repurchase or just refund the difference & have the card you paid with & approx time.
