Kids playing football in the street

Was I unreasonable this morning?

Was woken up at 7.58am (yes, that precise) by some kids playing football in the street. It's a small cul de sac with everything from young families to elderly folks. No traffic, sound bounces around.

The ball was being kicked against front garden walls and and, at one point, I heard it hit a car.
I stuck my head out the window and kindly (I hope!) said it was too early and some people would still even be sleeping. It was hardly even fully daylight.

Another neighbour texted me to say 'well done' (and he would have been far grumpier than me I'd he had said something).

But was I out of order? I'm a worrier! 🤣

The boys' response? They just sloped off back home.

I don't think I was unreasonable necessarily. I just tend to overthink things a bit and wanted a reality check.

I have two boys aged 7 and 10 who like to play football in our cul de sac. Firstly I wouldn't let them play out before 9.30 earliest on a Sunday as I remember before DC I'd have been pissed off being woken by that at the weekend. Secondly, if they had disturbed a neighbour I'd have no issue with the neighbour reasonably pointing it out to them. You may get widely differing opinions though OP. Some people believe their DC can do no wrong and are entitled to do what they like when they like 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don't let mine out in the back garden before 9am on a weekend. Got to let people have a lie in even if I can't. 🤣 After 9 they are out the door especially in the warmer weather. So no I don't think yabu at all. 8am is a bit early for footie in the street.
