Menstrual cycles after Covid. Wtf is going on.

I had covid early september whilst on my period. Since then my cycles, which were between 28-31 days have just gone longer. 32+ days.
I am overweight which I’m doing something about but it’s making me so anxious. Has anyone else had this?

I didn’t, but it could be the “doing something about” being overweight? It varies from person to person but restricting your intake or diet can have a really dramatic effect on your period. It could also be just your body suffering the effects of what can be a debilitating disease.

My periods are also affected for a while after covid and after covid jab. I’m not overweight. My doctor confirmed there have been people reporting the same as a covid side effect.

BelindaOkra · 15/12/2023 16:10

It is a known effect. Also happened to me after covid and after the Pfizer jab.

Flamango · 15/12/2023 16:18

Yes I had my covid jab and for the next two years my cycles became very long. I only had three periods in 2022. They’ve just returned to 28 day cycles in the last four months

CreationNat1on · 15/12/2023 16:24

Same here, no period for about 5 months at one stage, not sure if it was the jabs or perimenopause?? Seem to have returned to normal now.

SleighAnotherDay · 15/12/2023 16:28

I was the same after covid. No period for 7 weeks (usually I'm every 24 days) then a massive one. 28 days later a normal one. Thought great, more or less back to normal. Just 7 days later started with another full on period! Wtf! I seem to remember this happened when I first had Covid so hoping it settles again this time round. It's either Covid or peri 🙄 either way it needs to bog off and leave me alone for a bit.

Stressedafff · 15/12/2023 16:29

I don’t think I’m peri, I’m only 28! It’s been worrying me like crazy

My cycle was all over the place after I had COVID. Cycle length much longer and I stopped ovulating for 3 months. Since returned to normal and had a baby! Mentioned to GP in passing and she said they were seeing some effect of menstrual cycles post COVID.

Just to add, I am a healthy weight and very active.

RougeFraise · 15/12/2023 16:43

I mean I wouldn’t worry about it?

my periods went from 32+ days to 24ish after my second child.

covid jab had me spotting for 5-7 days before my period started.

no doctor gave a shit. Just said it’s hormonal.

Butternutsqoosh · 15/12/2023 21:09

I had covid last week and got a rogue period shortly after, so bloody annoying as I'd only just had one, I seem to remember the same thing happening last time I got covid too

MissMF11 · 21/12/2023 08:08

Hi I’m experience the same! My period started on a Wednesday but stopped the next day. The Friday I tested positive for covid. My period didn’t come back until 27/11. It then lasted 10 days so abit longer than usual. I then had spotting for until the 15th of December and now it has returned super heavy and passing about 3-4 clots a day!

Why on earth would you worry about a couple of days? 🤷‍♀️. You are not a machine.

Thriving30 · 21/12/2023 08:13

Yep my cycles went from 28 days regular, predictable to completely unpredictable 32-42 day cycles. All this started just after having Pfizer jabs. I had covid a year afterwards and they still haven't returned to my 'normal' and don't think they will. I'm 30
