To accept 10 Nintendo games as a Christmas present

Would you get your dc 10 Nintendo switch games as a Christmas present or is that a bit excessive? If so, how many would you get them?

For context, my DM has offered me 10 which I do feel is extremely generous. I will definitely enjoy the games but not sure if it is reasonable to accept this or how best to show appreciation. So suggestions of what I can do to thank her or what kind of presents I should get her also welcome. She likes watching murder mysteries so perhaps a box set of something but I don’t know what box set. TIA

i suspect he will only actually play with one or two anyway. And she probably picked them up as a bundle off ebay or car boot?

escapethemaze · 14/12/2023 09:16

if she has the streaming services i wouldn’t bother with a box set

Macandcheeese · 14/12/2023 09:18

@escapethemaze I think the op is the one receiving the games? I did have to read it twice though

Sugarfree23 · 14/12/2023 09:23

I think 10 is a bit much. Surely they're other things you want beside Switch games?

Ask for 2 or 3 and have a spa day with your mum.

Bells3032 · 14/12/2023 09:25

10 games is a very generous gift. but it depends on her financial situation. depending on the games that could be between 200-600 gift. is this how much your mum would usually spend? is it too much for her income? If she's a billionaire then it's not too much. if she's living on state pension then it probably is

Soubriquet · 14/12/2023 09:28

That’s a pricey gift. 10 might be too much. I’ve got my two dc three each but they will swap and play each others games so technically 6. And I think that’s enough

Caerulea · 14/12/2023 09:28

10 at once really is super generous! Do you get to choose the titles? My only thought is that you'll not get much use out of 10 at once, not for a long time. From experience, 2 or 3 new games at a time works best.

As for what to get her - you could try something like this?

Cryptic Killers Unsolved murder mystery game https://amzn.eu/d/2h3Uw8e

There's loads of that kind of thing on Amazon & if she's a bit puzzley then it might really appeal to her. They usually have a difficulty so I'd get a more beginner one if she's not done once before.

FMLWTF · 14/12/2023 09:30

Are you an adult?

Snisel · 14/12/2023 09:31

Thanks, will look into it

YA

What are you getting from Santa Claus?

limefrog · 14/12/2023 14:03

What are the games?

If it's 10 good games that you will actually play and enjoy, then yes it's a great gift. If there are loads of games that you won't play/ aren't very good then it's a waste of money.

I find if I get more than one or two games at a time I get a bit overwhelmed as I don't have time to play them all.

DaftyInTheMiddle · 14/12/2023 14:07

Cue this thread filling up with HORRIFIED posters that you’re an ADULT and play VIDEO GAMES.

Do you know how your mum is buying them? New, current games will be quite pricey. Has she asked for a list if them or will she chose? If you feel uncomfortable just say 2/3/4 is fine. If they’re 2nd hand and cheaper / older games then 10 might be fine.

Does she have streaming services that she watches things on as a dvd box set is a bit old school if so. I’d just ask her what she wants personally. Both me and my mum would rather set ourselves on fire than go to a spa day as PP suggested.

Mongrelsrbeautiful · 14/12/2023 14:11

Does she know how much they are?

BloodandGlitter · 14/12/2023 14:14

I'm 38 and I'd be chuffed with switch games for Xmas! Could she get you a nintendo gift card instead? The digital games can be really cheap during their frequent sales.

gamerchick · 14/12/2023 14:33

Are there 10 games you actually want to play?

Think I'd rather have the 500 quid to spend when a game comes out I'm waiting for.

Singleandproud · 14/12/2023 14:37

Is she getting them new or is it a second hand bundle in which case she could have bought them for a very good price from someone having a clear out.

As a return gift (or any gift) what most parents want is yo spend more time with their children regardless of age so depending on budget book a nice day/weekend out with her
