To be worried about lump on my head?

ChampionWorrier21 · 14/12/2023 07:28

It’s on my hairline pretty much middle of the top of my forehead. It’s tender - like a spot would be - but it’s more like a hard ridge. I can’t see any redness at all.

I have some sort of virus/cold which feels like it’s going to my sinuses so the rational side of me is saying it’s to do with that or I’ve tied my headscarf too tight (I wear one in bed). But the hypochondriac in me immediately says tumour. I’m particularly good at finding health issues like this to worry about at Christmas when I should just be having fun instead ☹️

Please can anyone reassure my exhausted brain?

I’m a doctor and I’m not worried at all. Little lumps often come and go and you may be feeling the ridges of the skull underneath. Just keep an eye on it.

Worth getting it checked but I have three skin coloured lumps along my parting. I was really worried but had them checked and they're all fine - just not very attractive!

RocketPanda · 14/12/2023 07:37

It's worth getting checked. Any unusual growths that are there more than two weeks or growing rapidly need to be seen.

Do you wear your glasses on top of your head?

steff13 · 14/12/2023 07:40

I don't think tumors are usually painful. I get small lumps on my scalp occasionally. They're sore but they go away on their own. I assume they're skin issues, like a pimple or ingrown hair or something. How long have you had it?

maras2 · 14/12/2023 07:48

Possibly a sebaceous cyst.

ChampionWorrier21 · 14/12/2023 07:48

Thanks all. It’s only been a few days.
I do wear my glasses on my head but this is right along my hairline -where it meets my forehead so I don’t think it’s that.

@olympicsrock good to be reassured by a Dr. Thank you.

I wondered that @maras2 but I can’t see anything spot-like??

Could it be a cyst? They’re usually soft - I had one on my head for years and got it removed eventually (privately) as it was ‘a big one’. I have a couple of little ones that catch sometimes when I’m brushing my hair.
