Have you ever seen an otherworldly person?

Not quite as straightforward as "have you ever seen a ghost?" but in the Victorian tradition of telling spooky tales in the Christmas season, I wondered if anyone has ever seen or met somebody they felt was just a bit...unusual? Otherworldly is the best word I can think of. Or maybe a version of the Uncanny Valley effect?

In my area, I once walked past a pretty, pleasant lady walking two huge white hounds. There was just something striking about them all that I can't put my finger on. I can't explain why but there was just a feeling, which is ridiculous.

Almost like if you'd told me she was a member of the fairy folk I'd have thought ahh that explains it Grin

I'm aware I sound batshit on this, and I've always had a great imagination! But just for fun, have you ever met or seen (as I didn't really 'meet' this lady) anyone similar?

I've not come across anyone like this but I know what you mean and would love to hear stories from others!

MissingMoominMamma · 13/12/2023 22:17

I saw a man on an old bike turn off the road. There was no gap in the hedge.

MyCatIsPlotting · 13/12/2023 22:19

I saw the most unusual woman in a London park years ago now. Lovely sunny summer’s day, everyone wearing shorts/skirts/strappy tops. She was wearing white - Victorian style. Long sleeves, skirts down to her ankles, high neck, and a parasol. Seemed to be taking a turn in the park. Definitely an actual human rather than an apparition but looked very other-worldly. Couldn’t work out if she’d come from a historical day out or similar, or whether that was just how she rolled…

Yes! One day when I was about 14/15 I was walking in town with my mum, and as I turned a man was staring at me. I couldn't stop staring back. He had a long leather coat, was tanned but ambiguous, jet black silky hair and yellow eyes. He was across the road. We had a moment that felt like ages of staring at each other to the point where I thought surely people will be thinking wtf is going on here? But then I snapped out of it, and was a bit weirded out. I told my mum to look at him and when we turned back (a matter of seconds) he was gone!!!! It's a long but not too busy high street so should have been able to at least see him in the distance. It was so odd!

ReadySalty · 13/12/2023 22:31

I sometimes walk past people and look back to see if they are real. They always are of course.

I’ve seen quite a few ‘ghosts’ but one didn’t make sense! People think they just are people from the past but I’ve seen one where it definitely wasn’t! This is quite outing but here you go. I was in my lounge with my children all in their teens and their friends when we saw a man come to our front door, he walked past a pair of French doors so we could see him quite clearly. We were arguing who was going to get the door as we were all in the middle of watching a film. But he didn’t knock on the door! I went out of the room and down the hallway to the front door and he wasn’t there!! And he hadn’t walked back past the French doors and back down the path. He wasn’t a regular ghost ie from the past as the front door that he had come to hadn’t been there before! We had built an extension and put the front door there quite recently whereas the original front door was now in the middle of the house so he would have been knocking in the middle of the garden in the past if you know what I mean. so we agreed to put it down to a time slip. We lived rurally and he was wearing the typical check shirt blue jeans so we couldn’t choose a decade but he didn’t look out of place for the time we saw him in 2010! We still talk about it now and we have no answer.
(I’ve also seen a 🛸) I think I’m one of those people who attract these kinds of things 🤣
sorry that was so long. Hope you enjoy

Maybe it wasn't intentional and he fell off. Stuck in the hedge forever more....

828Pax · 13/12/2023 22:38

Yes! Once about 10 years ago, I was waiting for the bus home from
work. A lady I'd never seen before came and stood beside me. (Think random bus stop in the middle of an industrial estate with just my company building around this particular bus stop) I then heard my name inside my head but quite loud, almost as if this lady had said my name loudly. I turned to look and she was looking straight ahead. As I got on the bus she said 'bye' and then my name. This time I saw her say it. She then didn't get on the bus and stood there smiling. It sounds weird but it almost felt calming if that makes sense?

😁

There was something odd about him, so I slowed down and checked where he’d gone. He looked like he’d cycled straight out of the 40s…

Over the summer my 3 kids and myself were walking down our cul de sac rural lane. There is never traffic or walkers on it and only 2 houses on a 1.5km stretch.

Older 2 kids (9 and 13) went ahead on bikes and a few minutes later both came back absolutely spooked telling me the had seen a girl with platted pigtails, in old fashioned clothes, long dress and type of a cloak. She had "irish dancing type shoes" and was floating/skipping along. They were so so freaked out about it but not scared. There is an older couple on the road but they don't have any grandkids nor do they have young visitors. I'm fairly certain they saw something other wordly.

They still talk about it. Certainly very creepy.

ShazzyG71 · 13/12/2023 22:47

I’ve never seen anything odd and I’ve always been a non believer but…. Stood at the bus stop one day outside a leisure centre (no shops nearby) and could smell, really strongly the smell of carnations. They were my nans favourite flowers 🌸

hobbledyhoy · 13/12/2023 22:47

@MissingMoominMamma how odd. I'm very pleased you checked! 😂
Maybe it's one of those odd time slips that people talk of.

Rachaelrachael · 13/12/2023 22:47

I do the same short car journey most days and would more often than not see this man walking his dog. He had a really unusual look, like a wear wolf and I would have this urge to get away from him, like the hairs on the back of my neck would stand up.

The weird thing is, he could be walking in the same direction I was driving, but he would stop dead in his tracks and turn around then stare straight into my car. This happened most days and I would dread seeing him.

One day I mentioned to my mum about this man and how creepy it was and just like that I never saw him again!

I lived in a house about 15 years ago where very strange things happened. Due to the very many events, I researched it later after it was sold. The house was built on an old mill as it turns out, and there had been a fire that led to its demise at the turn of the 20th century. Anyway, my ex-husband had a priest visit to bless the house when we bought it. It was a tradition in his family so I went along with it, until the priest came over all faint and nearly passed out. He said the house made him feel ill, and he just had to leave. Our cat would hiss at nothing, and the rooms upstairs were always artic cold. I saw the figure of a Victorian lady with a lamp upstairs one night out of the corner of my eye. Keys always went missing. Plates smashed, doors banged, knockers rattled and ornaments fell off shelves without explanation. Our builder ran away and refused to work in the house. He didn't even come back for his tools. He said the house freaked him out and he felt watched. We hadn't mentioned anything to him. Our guests heard footsteps in empty rooms late at night. All very strange and creepy. I loved the house but my ex-husband hated it so we moved. I often wonder how the new occupants got on in that house after we had left.

Someone has a bit of an imagination.

Conkersinautumn · 14/12/2023 06:45

When I was younger I was very pale (not unusual) and my hair a deep red (not unusual). I do sometimes have blank episodes, resulting in being quite still and not seeming to blink (slightly odd) anyway, also asd so I suppose I might give off some sort of vibe. Twice in my life superstitious (?) people have taken me for some sort of harbinger of doom. It's just a form of epilepsy though, I'm not any kind of spirit (totally would have been burned as a witch though)

EtiennePalmiere · 14/12/2023 06:54

Not a ghost but I was walking down new bond st (so plastic surgery land) and a woman across the street had a face that was literally like a mask, I assume from a facelift gone wrong, she had really raised eyebrows and an o-shaped mouth. She was slight and walked smoothly so it was like a mask floating down the street, it was really unsettling.

I've had a few woo episodes but a strange one was I was walking home from work and it was quiet. I heard a dog panting and footsteps behind me so assumed there was a dog walker and stepped aside to let them pass. There was no one there.

Forasmidgeoffun · 15/12/2023 21:43

Oh these are all great! Enjoying reading about the different experiences.

I remember being out after dark one winter eve with a friend and his dog. We were crossing a field and saw what i assumed was another dog walker way away in the damp fog. He was waking right to left across our path as it were, but in the distance.

It was a tall thin figure that stopped dead seemed to look our way and then sort of got down on all fours and galloped really fast away to the left Confused

We - turned around and ambulated pretty quickly back to civilization!
