The new Philips shaver advert....

I mean, what can I say?

Crown Jewels

The original OneBlade, for face, for body, for everything. Multiple combs, easy strokes, no clogging. #philips #OneBlade #malegrooming

I saw this advert a couple of weeks ago and was a bit bemused by it.

It seems awkward, grubby and odd. Is that how you would shave 'down there'? And what are the two cats about?

I always thought the "Crown Jewels" were the whole area - root and stem as they say in Game Of Thrones!

idontlikealdi · 11/12/2023 13:35

I don't know what to say. How bizarre.

Chilicabbage · 11/12/2023 13:38

What I understand it's based on people reviews so... There are two cats somewhere who saw things... They shouldn't have seen

Whataretheodds · 11/12/2023 13:39

What's your issue with it?

MassageForLife · 11/12/2023 13:43

On its own, it would be really weird. The fact that it's based on an actual review however, I find it really funny.

NoNoNanette · 11/12/2023 13:45

@Mothership4two

And what are the two cats about?

I suspect they are a 'visual pun'.

doodoodahdah · 11/12/2023 13:49

I thought it was quite funny. Weird but funny. Maybe I have a sense of humour?

DRS1970 · 11/12/2023 13:59

I think it is just a light hearted way to highlight their razor is safe for shaving your balls. Not seeing a problem personally.

Mothership4two · 11/12/2023 14:55

I got that @NoNoNanette but why cats?

NoNoNanette · 11/12/2023 14:58

Pussy?

Mothership4two · 11/12/2023 15:03

That's what I thought but it doesn't really work as a 'pun' @NoNoNanette. I think they wanted two furry things to represent two furry things. I am surprised they didn't stick in the dog's bollocks but maybe that was too on the nose. I am putting way to much thought into this!

NoNoNanette · 11/12/2023 15:06

Why doesn't it work as a 'pun'? You show a razor and a pussy in the same ad? Seems a no-brainer to me.

Waitingfordoggo · 11/12/2023 15:08

Because the person shown shaving their undercarriage is male @NoNoNanette

But he's a cross dresser, or panto dame? Maybe not a pun then. Just two nice cats.

Mothership4two · 11/12/2023 15:26

I didn't get that he was a cross dresser. He is fantasising/acting like a king or prince about to deal with his CJ. I think they bunged the cats in as onlookers.

Anyone notice he shaved his chest in the 'fantasy' but it was hairy in reality.

NashvilleQueen · 11/12/2023 15:29

It's very Eurotrash

Bernardmanning · 11/12/2023 17:21

I just wasn't quite sure what it was all about really. I mean, it's a bit weird having two cats staring at a man's testicles whilst cowering next to an advocado bathroom suite. It was quite unexpected. I was rather bemused by it. It's not your normal run of a mill advert.

@doodoodahdah

That was my reaction too. Weird and unexpected.
