10 Downing Street door does not suit a Christmas wreath

(There are more important things to worry about I know)

There is a very nice luxury wreath on the door of number 10 - however it looks ridiculous as it’s on the bottom half of the door. If you can’t put it on the top half you shouldn’t have one at all imo.

I think it looks nice. They shouldn’t cover the 10.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I’m with you, OP.

They don’t deserve anything nice

HomiesAlone · 11/12/2023 07:58

I can think of things I'd rather hang on their door.

(Not a call to murder, just something rude as I don't like his policies!!).

I’d never paid any attention to the wreath placement but yes, it does look fucking stupid. Fits right in tbh.

BarbaraofSeville · 11/12/2023 08:17

YABU for not providing a link or photo so we have to find it ourselves.

But having googled, yes, you're right, it does look a bit silly.

They should do something like this instead <runs>

It isn’t aesthetically pleasing - I don’t understand why they don’t put it at the top with the knocker in the hole in the middle, there’s enough space and it wouldn’t cover the 10.

BarbaraofSeville · 11/12/2023 08:28

What's wrong with covering the 10? It's not like they're going to have Deliveroo or DPD people wandering up and down Downing Street, squinting at the numbers, not sure which house they're looking for.

But there are people who work there, a lot of the building is offices and they are not all political appointments.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 11/12/2023 08:44

A quick image search suggests that the Downing St wreath is always placed below the letterbox for some reason.
Yes it looks odd but perhaps it's become a tradition or something?? 🤷‍♀️

jemenfous37 · 11/12/2023 09:13

I didn't realise that a Christmas-wreath style-police section existed.

I'll ask my nephew if it's a branch he is interested in rather than the beat he is currently on

The only problem with joining the Wreath Branch is that it’s hard to leave, most of them just go round in circles.

Will they deserve a nice wreath if another Government get in? O is it t only when there is a Conservative Government there shouldn't be a wreath at 10 Downing street?

Omg yes I saw it on the news and thought wtf is that?! It's too big and too low.

SleepingStandingUp · 11/12/2023 09:43

Well it's a nice prize and good exposure for the competition winners.

Agree it looks weird so low but also still a bit covering the letter box. Almost needs a bespoke one to fit around stuff.

Criticising a wreath is very very gentle Tory bashing. It could and should be much worse.

Tbf although I would never vote Tory I don’t imagine the wreath is chosen by the Tories, surely they would have one regardless of who is in power. I imagine all the arrangements are done similar to how school offices run, It Has Always Been Done That Way and so it continues forever with no actual thought process. Like thinking how shite it looks and let’s not bother.
