To be upset about not being in newsletter?

I work for the NHS and have gone into my position on a secondment with the hopes of being made permanent. We’ve had new starters join after me all four were added into the newsletter with pictures and welcome messages.

We also have a team structure that is implemented in the newsletter monthly. All newbies have been added in except for me and there is just a blank space under my manager which should be for me.

I appreciate I am on a secondment and I am in a development role but it still feels abit shitty.

I practically don’t exist!

Most likely scenario is that a 'new joiner' report has been run that didn't account for secondments. I wouldn't take it personally and just move on. Good opportunity to build resilience i.e. these sorts of things shouldn't concern you quite so much.

Sounds like a communication error. Is there someone you can contact and just say ‘I’ve realise new starters usually get announced and put into the team structure - I wonder if this could happen for me as it would be useful if people know who I am and what I do’?

Very sensible approach

I'm in the opposite position to you. I'm a new starter, had my photo taken for my security pass, it is a truly terrible photo, my face is orange from too much bronzer, my hair frizzy as I couldn't control my curls that day, and I'm gurning instead of smiling as I felt so self conscious (photo taken in a corridor with people passing by). They've only gone and used the photo in the "Welcome to..." section of their website (1000+ employees) and it's on every email I send out and in the directory. If I'd have known I would have asked for a retake but as it was I thought it was for a swipe in/swipe out pass and no one would ever see it. I'm mortified.
