to think this pelvic pain every month isn't normal?

I am 33 years old and just over this past year, I have started to feel unwell most months mid cycle. My cycle has always been between 23 - 31 days, so I guess not 'regular' but I have always had a period every month.

Until this year, I had relatively easy periods. I might have discomfort on the first day of my period, but other than that, no pain or anything to take notice of over the cycle.

Most of my cycles have been difficult this year, which isn't normal for me. And i'm now waiting for an ultrasound scan at the hospital. As for the past two cycles, i've had spotting and bleeding outside of my period as well which is a new symptom.

I have been really taking notice of this cycle and this is what i've noticed:
On Cycle day 9 I started brown spotting. This lasted for about a day and a half and was mainly when I wiped. From Cycle day 10 - 14 (today) i've had a horribly sore lower stomach. I feel bloated and huge. It doesn't seem to be from one side to suggest its ovulation. Its across my uterus. Its not painful but very uncomfortable.

Last month, I had the same symptoms, from Cycle day 10 until about 13, bleeding for a few days, then a horrible bloat and discomfort.

Could this be ovulation related? Never taken BC, never been pregnant (although want to TTC in future). I do notice I don't get any cervical mucus ever though that is meant to be present with ovulation so not sure it can be?

As a side note, I did have some really light periods in my early 20s which I had an ultrasound for, but everything was normal. Can things have changed since then?
