To think being in a mood is ridiculous

I dyed my hair purple and now my husband is in a mood and not really talking to me because he doesn't like colourful hair.

Fair enough not to like something and if I had had a swastika tattooed on my forehead then absolutely tell it like it is.

I've only been in work half an hour but I've had so many compliments on it! It's semi permanent so it will wash out and fade to lilac soon enough.

He's compared it to me spending all of our savings on a sports car because I want one without any thought to anybody else. I'm like wtf it's a hair colour!

I'm not changing it, I'll leave it to wash out because I like it. He either gets over it or he leaves and goes to find himself a Blake Lively lookalike (his ideal)

I'd tell him to do one. Your hair, your choice 😁

caramac04 · 07/12/2023 09:48

My husband always wonders what colour my hair will be after a visit to the salon. I don’t pay, it’s a skill swap, just tip so it’s as cheap as a box colour.
My hair, my choice. I’m not keen on some of his aesthetic choices but they are his choices.
Your DH is a bit of a nob.

ElaineMBenes · 07/12/2023 09:51

Yes he's being ridiculous.
Your hair, your choice

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 07/12/2023 09:52

”yes dear, it’s exactly like your sports car analogy, except that in your version we have no family savings left, whilst in reality i’ve spent a grand total of £7.99. They even through in finding out my husband was an innumerate idiot for free! What a bargain.”

ManateeFair · 07/12/2023 10:18

He's a complete wanker. It's only hair, ffs.

Cosycover · 07/12/2023 10:28

I would be pissed off if my husband dyed his hair purple tbh

Aaron95 · 07/12/2023 10:32

He is being an idiot. Why should you have to consult anyone before changing your hairstyle?

My OH sometimes comes back with a different hair colour or style. Sometimes I don't think they suit her but I don't get annoyed about it. Its her hair and she can do whatever she wants with it.

Ditto

Desecratedcoconut · 07/12/2023 10:38

I can't imagine what dh would look like with purple hair and I'm hoping it'll stay that way. But it's not akin to spending the family savings on a mid-life crisis car.

Would you?! I would laugh, and check he didn't have any client meetings anytime soon.

What on earth does it matter?

TwilightSkies · 07/12/2023 10:40

I would be pissed off if my husband dyed his hair purple tbh

Why? It wouldn’t affect you!

Usernamesarenoteasy · 07/12/2023 10:43

My hair is purple. It has been many many colours over the years.
If anyone got pissed off with me because of it, they could fuck right off!
It's my hair, and I'll do what I like with it. I don't need anyone's permission or approval!

NotEvenThought · 07/12/2023 10:49

Being in a mood is pathetic. It's childish and nasty.

Being on a mood because someone died their hair purple is even more silly. You can't dictate to other adults what they do with their hair.

How exactly does hair color incite anger?

Nicole1111 · 07/12/2023 10:53

What a controlling prick. Tell him you like skin heads with scalp tattoos and throw a strop when he doesn’t take immediate action because he’s not thinking about your preferences.

Pickingmyselfup · 07/12/2023 11:09

It's not like it's massively unusual, it's been purple in the past, just not as bright as now since he's known me.

He's worried I'm having a mid life crisis but even if I was it's hair, I could be doing a whole lot worse. I'm rushing out to buy a sports car, I'm not running around at night snogging randomers so if my hair colour is all there is to worry about he should be relieved.

He had a strop about my new piercing a while back because "it wasn't me" but he fails to understand that it is exactly me, I've always been like this deep down but I've always been a bit too worried about the opinions of society whereas now I'm just like sod it!

One of my ex male colleagues was upset when I dyed my hair. he didn't talk to me for a week. it became a company wide joke. I was bewildered by his reaction 😂

But he didn't see anything wrong with his behaviour at all.

Some men are just crackers!

Cas112 · 07/12/2023 11:24

If my partner acted like that I'd keep doing it but I'm so petty😂

He once told me he didn't like big earrings on girls so I made sure to wear them for our next date🤣

Disturbia81 · 07/12/2023 16:22

Yuck I hate how some men are so controlling about womens appearance. Like we give a fuck.
We don't exist for them

Pickingmyselfup · 07/12/2023 18:40

He's still barely talking to me, it seems absolutely insane to be having this reaction because of something that isn't even permanent. I know that in just one wash it will fade and it won't be long before it ends up being lilac.

He's the only one who hates it too, everyone I've spoken to today has loved it, customers and colleagues. I had one of the regulars come and find me because they saw me from a distance as they were leaving but wanted to tell me they loved my hair.

Attached is a photo of my offending hair that must be code for kitten murderer or something to have this reaction
