To be underwhelmed by store's Christmas food

Lighthearted.

Tesco's Christmas food this year is totally underwhelming... I'm usually tempted to splurge on tempting desserts at least, but this year it seems like they haven't even tried to make it special. (Only singling out Tesco as this is where I do my main shop, so can't speak for the other stores' offerings).

At least I'll save a lot of money this year! 😉

I too thought looked poor in everywhere I've gone so far: Sainsbury, Aldi, Tesco, M&S.

LutonBeds · 14/12/2023 06:38

I’ve never forgiven M&S for not having cheese in blankets the last few years. Looks like they’re back this year but £5.50 for 12 😱!

It's still a bit early - most of it won't hit the shelves until this weekend.

I'm going to try the Morrison's Yule log, based on Hermione's selfless testing upthread! I'm also after a good black forest or any good chocolate and cherry dessert.

Asda black forest yule log.

We had the Lidl deluxe black forest stacked pavlova tonight. Very nice but a bit too sweet. Supposed to serve 8 but more like 4 adults.

Well, you guys were right about the late arrivals. After having done my main Christmas shop, I now see the shelves lined with a number of more tempting festive products that weren't previously available. Too bloody late now!

Pretty disappointed in Lidl today, expected there to be no turkeys left, but no prepared roast potatoes, veg, gravy etc. No Xmas puddings left. Last year they had pots of sprouts with bacon, red cabbage, stuffing etc. Some new desserts in Sainsburys but nothing exciting. Eventually got gravy, Xmas puddings and a yule log in M&S

I was very unimpressed with m and s this year for Xmas. Granted we only have a tiny food hall that is part of a clothes etc shop but the actual range was awful and the prices ridiculous for stuff that doesn't look as special as it used to (or have we become more cynical to the shop bosses ways of putting up the price but lowering sizes and the price of ingredients?)

m&s yule log quite nice but very sweet icing/buttercream. Had it warmed up with double cream
