AIBU unreasonable to say to the person driving their 4x4 through the puddle next to the kerb absolutely drenching pregnant me and my one year old with freezing cold water which is how we got to walk home the rest of the way:

Go Fuck Yourself! You absolute selfish twat. I hope your car breaks down and you spend the next three hours standing in the rain on the side of the road. And once more FUCK YOU!

Yanbu the absolute fuckers 😡

FallingAutumnLeaf · 04/12/2023 12:29

Hard to answer.
Did they actually have space to pull out? Or was something coming the other way? Blame the council for not getting the drains unblocked.

There is a road near us that we actually walk the long way round to avoid when it's been raining, as the traffic usually has no choice but to drive through the puddles, and even slowing down, pedestrians get sprayed.

partypartypartytime · 04/12/2023 12:35

They did indeed; right lane completely empty. They could have also slowed down (approaching red light anyway). Straight road if remotely looking out front window will have seen us.

And yet decided the way to go was to cover us in dirty ice water. Absolute dick.

Person after did slow down and no did not get sprayed. Because he/she wasn’t an absolute asshole.

If you can't avoid spraying a pedestrian I believe you should stop and wait until you can pass by safely

DysmalRadius · 04/12/2023 12:38

Did you just post this on your local Facebook group? If so, hello! If not, you're not alone - we clearly have a total nob driving around or way too!

LoveHema · 04/12/2023 12:38

I find I've never had a problem slowing down or moving so as not to splash pedestrians. It's just being in control of your vehicle and aware of potential hazards. YANBU. Splashing pedestrians is the pits.

TeddyBeans · 04/12/2023 12:39

The amount of times this has happened to me is ridiculous. I actively avoid puddles when there are cars coming now and, if I'm in a position to do so, will leg it past when there's no cars. I'm sorry this happened to you, hope you and your little one are home and dry now

Winterscoming1 · 04/12/2023 12:39

It is an offence so you should report them to the police.

exactly this.

BooseysMom · 04/12/2023 12:40

There's always an element of drivers who are so clueless about what's around them, they shouldn't be behind the wheel. It's terrifying when there are kids around and the roads are so dangerous now. Everyone driving too fast. I've been soaked before but thankfully it wasn't icy dirty water, just dirty water. That driver who soaked you was nothing but an arsehole.

partypartypartytime · 04/12/2023 12:40

I did not though did initially contemplate it 😂
Lots of horrible humans around.

OP posts:
Allfur · 04/12/2023 12:41

An inconsiderate 4x4 driver?!

partypartypartytime · 04/12/2023 12:41

Thank you. Semi over reaction (but blaming pregnancy hormones) I actually cried. We are home, changed and baby is napping now.

OP posts:
partypartypartytime · 04/12/2023 12:43

I didn't get the number plate.

OP posts:
LoveHema · 04/12/2023 12:44

Shame. I didn't know this was an actual offence but they would have deserved some bother.

LoveHema · 04/12/2023 12:45

Glad to hear you're home, warm and dry.

spellingwasp · 04/12/2023 12:46

What a shitty driver!

So sorry to hear this. I'm not surprised you're raging.

Let it all out - we hear you!

ManateeFair · 04/12/2023 12:46

Someone did this to me yesterday. ABSOLUTE SHITBAGS.

This 💯
The selfishness of some is breathtaking 🙄🥲

partypartypartytime · 04/12/2023 12:48

We'll add yours to the list of people who deserve a therapeutic wait in the rain in a lay by.

OP posts:
Laughingravy · 04/12/2023 12:54

Given the state of the roads around me, anything more than a bit of drizzle renders lots of pavements 'use at your peril'. It is an offence, assault IIRC, but let's face it even if you get the registration the police are unlikely to follow it up and the driver will just deny it. So unless it is caught on video and you can get access to it it a lot cause. Except if they are held at the next traffic lights and you catch up 😈

Bonjovispjs · 04/12/2023 12:58

I knew a guy years ago who would do this on purpose, complete arsehole.

HellInABasket · 04/12/2023 12:59

I've never drenched anyone but it's happened to me that I've driven through a spraying puddle because I hadn't seen it or noticed it or realised that there was as much water as there was. If someone had been standing their I'd have been mortified.

I'm sure there are some c*nts who do it on purpose but its possible it was an accident. sorry you had such a horrible experience.
