I've looked and looked and haven't got a clue what to get so I'm starting to panic.

May I ask what you're all getting for your little girl around this age?

A nice dolly with a couple of outfits. My daughter had a soft bodied 18 inch doll called Laura when she was that age. She loved her and played with her for a few years. Laura lives in a cupboard for my daughter's retired toys now. She is 12 now, but still remembers Laura with fondness.

My little girl is having lego! Some Lego city bits, the moana boat and a frozen set too. We’ve also got a few little bits like hamma beads, a Disney doll and clothes. We’ve not gone huge as we are taking both of our DCs on a London trip between Christmas and new year

My 5 year old is getting a Fingerling, which she's asked for and a few other random presents - Lego Friends set, some craft things, a new outfit, a My Little Pony playset, a tulle/sparkly cape. She'll have random bits in her stocking like chocolate, some stickers, a few random Christmas bits of tat and some snacks she likes.

She's not getting a lot from us really - we don't tend to go overboard and she will get spoiled rotten by other people. Her nan has got her a double pram and clothes for her dolls, more Lego sets and Hatchimals/LOL bits that she likes. Books and craft stuff is always good too.

Unicorn onesie (H&M)
Lego friends set horse stable
Earrings
marzipan
for stocking - wish necklace, sonny angel, adorables, hatchimals

Have a look at the "Story Orchestra" books - the Nutcracker one or the Carnival of the Animals one are perfect for that age group. Really nice gifts that they will enjoy listening to / reading themselves for a few years. The pictures are beautiful.

Mine wants Walkie talkies and a box she can decorate.

likoed · 04/12/2023 13:01

We have got some Story Orchestra books (there is a set of 3 on Books2Door). Some family games - Operation, Guess Who, Twister, Scrabble Junior. Leapfrog Magic Globe. Smiggle bag and pencil case.

Ok, I don't have any girls.

Having said that, here are some toys my lads have loved around that age that I think are unisex/I see girls that age with:

Scooter (with or without a favourite character on it)
A dolly pram
Sylvanians and house
Play-Doh and accessories
Julia Macdonald books
Toy parrot that repeats what you say to it
Pop-its
Onesie of a favourite character, or a Xmas one
Clothes with favourite character on it
Dress up of a favourite character/theme
One of those plastic jars full of craft stuff

3peassuit · 04/12/2023 13:03

My DGD has asked for a junior Spirograph and fluffy socks.

LuvSmallDogs · 04/12/2023 13:04

A cuddly toy that microwaves to be a hot water bottle!

Jeds55 · 04/12/2023 13:12

Have a 5 year old dd. Got her -
Story Orchestra book (mentioned already by pp- I can't wait to hear the music!)
Jewellery box
Arts and crafts stuff
A pet thing that you cut the fur away to reveal (sorry can't remember the name - was on offer from Argos)
Animal encyclopedia
Some stocking stuff- lipgloss, stickers etc
Main prseht is a scooter which we managed to pick up second hand from FB marketplace

scorpiogirly · 04/12/2023 13:21

Thank you all loads of good ideas. I always think I'm not getting her enough but when they get to around this age, they already have a lot of stuff you could have gotten

Have a look in the range for crafty stuff she can make a mess of haha. We love doing things like that together like painting little ceramic dolls or mugs and things like that. Sets like that make great little inexpensive gifts.
Also story books if she likes bedtime stories. Dolls etc. Educational activity books to draw in.
