Would a (faux but very good) diamond...

Would a diamond solitaire pendant look better in white gold or gold? I am a brunette and have been told warmer colours suit me.

However, the shop assistant insisted that a single diamond looks more beautiful in white gold and that I should stick with that.

Any thoughts??

I think both would be lovely but go with the style you like. The shop assistant can say what she prefers but it’s what looks good on you and what you will wear more.

A diamond can look larger in white gold since the illusion is that the setting is part of the stone.

I'm drawn to white gold/platinum/rhodium/silver with a diamond/fake diamond .
If I do buy yellow gold then I like the setting and claws to be rhodium .
Not a fan of yellow gold claws .

I'm brunette (well, I was ) as is my DD . She won't wear white metals or rose gold , She's all for yellow gold .

I'd get what I personally liked more and felt looked best on me.
White can often make the diamond seem larger, brighter, whatever, but if you prefer yellow gold on you then that's what you'll feel happy with.

I think diamonds look beautiful in both metal colours tbh.

catmaine · 04/12/2023 08:29

I always choose yellow or rose gold because I feel it's more me than cooler white tones.

SpringMeadows · 04/12/2023 08:33

White metals tend to enhance the lack of colour in the diamond

KvotheTheBloodless · 04/12/2023 08:36

If warm tones suit you best, go for yellow gold.

CalistoNoSolo · 04/12/2023 08:39

In what way is it a fake diamond? Is it a zirconium or similar or is it lab grown? If it's fake then just use the cheapest setting, no point using high quality gold of either colour on a cheap stone. If its lab grown it is an actual diamond and will have a certificate etc, so it makes sense to use a decent setting. My preference is white gold but it's whatever you prefer and looks best on you.

I'm pale and blonde and pretty much only wear white gold/platinum etc. I do have a few pieces of rose gold but it's not my favourite. Fake diamonds definitely look good in white gold etc but it's totally up to you. It's just an opinion so don't worry what anyone else says.

Possibly a little old fashioned but I like the warmth that yellow gold brings to diamonds. I am also brunette and prefer yellow gold as I feel it suits me better. Love platinum on other people but on me I think it just looks like cheapo base metal!

I would go for warm gold. Rose is my preference.
