Whichever would need to have blackout lining. Cannot work out which would be most practical and look the best.

We have a roller blind and curtains. My preference is for layers of window dressing. I often think a blind on its own isn't enough.

Curtains keep out the light far better than Roman blinds. I have both in my house and the bedrooms with blinds leak light round the edge. My own bedroom curtains have blackout lining. They are fantastic.

💯 @thefiestyfeminist

we have a blackout roller with shutters over the top. Very flexible for all seasons and very effective.

Devilsmommy · 04/12/2023 06:16

Both. Because light will leak round the edges and as a pp said, with just a blind, the window looks unfinished

I have wooden shutters all round my home. I love them because they look great but also I hate curtains and blinds because of the amount of dust that just gets into them. I can wipe the shutters easily. You'd be surprised how much dust comes off.

We have roller blind and curtains.

Curtains are a brilliant insulator in the cold weather we are having. They also reflect light back into the room if they are light in colour. The inconvenience of having to wash them now and again is massively outweighed by having warmer lighter rooms in winter IMO.

We have got a roman blind, it is a bit wider than the window reveal which is quite shallow. It has black out lining and does a good enough job.

Another one with shutters. I love the simplicity. I don’t like curtains/fabric window dressings because our bedrooms aren’t very big and they can look fussy. My bedroom is really streamlined and simple.

Both, particularly if your radiators are underneath your windows. That way you can pull down the blind and half close the curtains whilst the heating is on and pull the curtains fully when the heating goes off to kept the heat in.
