To ask about Genetic Blood Tests for Adults and CANVAS

My consultant is doing a genetic blood test on me to see why I have a developed a particular neurological condition.

I am nervous of what they might find. Consultant mentioned CANVAS Cerebellar ataxia with neuropathy and vestibular areflexia syndrome, as a likely outcome.

AIBU to ask if anyone had a genetic test as an adult or heard anything about CANVAS in real life?

I don't know anything about CANVAS, except what I have just Googled, but it seems as if testing may help confirm the diagnosis. It will then be possible to give some idea about whether any other members of your family are at risk for it (even if your children are grown up and had children of their own, they might wish to know).

Thanks for your post. I really hope I haven't passed anything down to my kids, that would really hurt.
