Where can I go by myself at Christmas?

I live in Manchester so maybe Lake District but which bits are nicest for probably two nights in an air b and b or hotel? Amy other places that are nice within about 2 or 3 hours? I know it's really late notice but my family are in absolutely toxic dire straights and I'm out, I'm spending this year alone on Christmas day.

I can't help but I hope you really enjoy it. Spoil yourself, sounds amazing.

Lakes, Peak District, Forest of Bowland.
If you do some Googling you should be able to find some self-catering places; or B&Bs / hotels if you want catered.
Good luck Op, it sounds like a great idea.

Keswick. Lovely town so not too isolated.

Rafting2022 · 03/12/2023 20:01

Ambleside is also a good location - lots of walks you can do straight from the town centre (eg Wansfell, Loughrigg), plenty of nice shops, pubs, bars and great for mooching about.

What’s your budget OP?

AmandaHoldensLips · 03/12/2023 20:04

Definitely go for a snazzy hotel if you can afford it. They tend to lay on very special everything at Christmas. Bliss!

My friend stayed at 'the secret walled gardens' in monmouth, wales by herself earlier this year (we also live in Manchester) and loved it. She stayed in a stargazing cabin and has booked to go again. Their insta is 'thesecretwalledgarden'

CheshireDing · 03/12/2023 20:07

i was going to say Wales too. The above sounds lovely

Xmasdread22 · 03/12/2023 21:53

@Rafting2022 I'm not sure because I have no idea how much accommodation costs at Christmas but probably about 350 ish. Ideally less.

What about Blackpool or Morecambe ?
Or Edinburgh

Look on Booking.com for accommodation

MrsPaddyGrant · 03/12/2023 22:00

I’m on my own on Xmas day and going to join an organised walk in the Peak District if you fancied doing that instead? Found it on facebook.

Delamere forest?

They have shepherd huts on airbnb for £59 a night.

It will be the best thing you ever did to spend Christmas alone away from awful family
