To not want my photo taken for deliveries

Changednayme · 03/12/2023 18:11

I order things and forget. An ex ordered me a gift. I just thought it was something I had ordered. He will probably now have a photo of me answering the door. Besides that I don’t want my photo taken and uploaded anyway. It all happened so fast. before I could think to say no

Most of the time it’s your legs at the most. It’s just proof of delivery

Needmorelego · 03/12/2023 18:13

They aren't meant to have you in the shot.
Maybe your feet but that's it.
(as far as I know anyway)

AlwaysForksAndMarbles · 03/12/2023 18:13

If it helps, all the ones I have ever had taken are of just my feet, in my horrible slippers, with the parcel on the floor in the open doorway. It’s not about identifying you, it’s about showing the parcel having been taken in - they wouldn’t care who you were as long as you’d opened the door.

baileybrosbuildingandloan · 03/12/2023 18:14

They keep it at the delivery co, it's not fir a family album. Try not to worry.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 03/12/2023 18:16

All ours have just been below the knees with parcel by feet, or hands with parcel and the odd foot. Never ever hand a full body or face in the photo.

All the Facebook ‘who’s for my parcel’ posts also just feature below the knee shots or a doormat….. seemingly everyone wears beige slippers!

uhOhOP · 03/12/2023 18:19

Did the delivery driver point the lens at your face? They are not supposed to capture people's faces, or anything that can identify somebody. Perhaps you can ask the person who made the order to check the proof of delivery picture to see if your face is in it. If it is, you can complain to the delivery company.

And for anybody who thinks it would be mean to get somebody sacked for "just doing their job", or whatever, they'd be highly unlikely to be sacked for that, even though it is a really important rule.

Coconutter24 · 03/12/2023 18:20

Unless you hold the parcel up to your face for the picture I think you’ll be ok

Nightskystarsmoon · 03/12/2023 18:22

I get you. I don't like it and never get chance to move away fast enough. I've had some awful pics where I've had my hand splayed out at an odd angle because I tried to close the door. Once I looked like I had hooves for feet because of my invisible trainer socks that had come off my feet a bit and bad angle so there was a perspective effect (larger upper body versus feet).

purplecorkheart · 03/12/2023 18:26

Just ask the driver not to take a picture of your face. There is only one courier company where I live want a photo and he never takes a picture of your face even of you want him to. Just hold the parcel to the side of your body at the full lenght of your arm. I have a plant pot near my door and that tends to be what is seen in photo.

Torganer · 03/12/2023 18:27

Just move out of the way.

WestendVBroadway · 03/12/2023 18:31

Well surely it is just proof of delivery. It has to be better than dumping the parcel on doorstep in full view of a passing thief.

I think whoever sent the parcel can see the photo under “tracking”

Densol57 · 03/12/2023 18:34

Now you know ex is "buying" you presents, check the label first and decline delivery if its not one you ordered

VanityDiesHard · 03/12/2023 18:37

Exactly. It's meant to be a picture of the parcel, not the recipient, IME.

Why? It's just a present. This is about the proof of delivery picture. And why is "buying" in quotation marks?

gannett · 03/12/2023 18:40

Put the parcel down and move aside if you don't even want your feet in shot.

LuvSmallDogs · 03/12/2023 18:44

I was in a silly mood when a courier delivered a parcel, and posed for the shot holding it near my face with one hand, the other hand doing a ✌🏼and a big cheesy grin. Only to be informed that he wasn't allowed to take photos with my face, so could I please hold it lower down.

I did that with our cat litter delivery. Got told - Feet and hands allowed. Grey hair and wrinkles will break the screen 😱🤣

Headshoulderscheeseontoast · 03/12/2023 19:01

I always have to remember to have long trousers on so they don't get a shot of my unshaved legs!

This is absolutely hilarious and mortifying at the same time. I don't think I'd ever answer the door again 😂😂

GuineaPigPosie · 03/12/2023 19:13

As an aside, we don't know the nature of the OPs relationship with their ex and it may not be pleasant. So it may not be ideal him having any kind of photo of her. However, it SHOULD be feet only and if they'd got your face, have a word ASAP.
