To ask about travel insurance

And whether it covers having to cancel for norovirus? Posting here for traffic.
I'm due to travel in a couple of days and someone in my household has norovirus. I'm trying really hard not to catch it but I never manage to avoid it when I've been around it. Can anyone advise how exactly I can claim for this on my travel insurance if I get sick? To be honest I think I should cancel anyway rather than take the risk of becoming ill abroad or even boarding a plane but how would I prove it to travel insurance company? 😩

Depends upon whether you've taken out insurance to cover cancellation. If you have and you come down with it tonight/tomorrow, you're unfit to travel and would need to evidence that to show you hadn't just changed your mind. You won't be able to claim for cancelling on the offchance, though.

If you do need to cancel, you follow the instructions for making a claim on your policy documents - they are likely to want

Proof of Insurance
Proof of Booking
Cancellation Invoice confirming the charges/flight tickets
Proof of illness (possibly a form to be completed by your GP, for which they will charge)

Yeah I'm covered on the insurance for it I have already contacted them to ask about this. I'm just wondering how exactly you can prove it with a Gp because who ever goes into a doctors surgery with bloody norovirus 😭
