At the top of Dds Christmas list is a make up set, it’s quite surprising as she’s generally quite tomboyish, other items on her list include Teenage mutant ninja turtles and a skateboard. I have a make up bag but rarely bother with make up these days. I don’t love the thought of her using make up tbh.
Would you get the make up set? Am I being a bit precious?

You’re all enforcing the stereotype that make up is for trying to be attractive. Why can’t women (and girls) just want to use it for fun and because they like it?

Yup. I actually preferred the hilarious multi.colour palette from Revolution vs the kiddy version of a full palette as dd had such fun at that age drawing yellow swirls and purple lines!

Dd is 8 now. Loves makeup still. But mostly its still in the house. She's allowed a little sparkly eye shadow sometimes or blusher but it's about having fun. She also loves any sparkly clothes and sequins are BIG for her!

She also chose "boys" trainers for school as they are more water resistant, spends hours drawing and doing arts and crafts, plays on her Nintendo and takes part in multiple dance classes. Playing with make up is just one aspect of her personality.
