Toddler in the shopping basket part of a pram??

Is this a new thing?

I've just seen a Mum (it's hard, I know, I don't mean to deride her personally) put a 3 year old maybe toddler into the fabric shopping basket part of the underside of a pram. She had a baby in a car seat in the main part of the pram.

I've seen double decker buggies before but I don't think that's what this was!

Surely this isn't safe?!

Is this what Mums do now to avoid double buggies or to get out with a baby and a toddler?

Mine are a bit older now so I'm not in pram/buggy world anymore.

Is this a new trend?

What if it breaks with the weight crossing the street?

Or is this Mum a genius?!

I used to do this sometimes. Let toddler sit in the basket for a little while on long outings. Like he would walk most of it (zoo trips or things like that). But if he got tired we let him rest a little til he could walk again.
That way we didnt need to drag a huge double pram around just for it to be used 30mins or so 🤷🏻‍♀️
The baskets are surprisingly strong 😄

I wouldn't worry about this tbh. Im sure she knows her toddler well. If it makes her shopping trip easier, great.

I once saw a woman with a baby in buggy and a 3yo in the shopping part. He was laying on his tummy, looking out and eating a chocolate croissant. He seemed to be having the time of his life!

I lie our Joie pushchair flat while my 2 year old is trapped in with the lap part of the straps then my 4 year old climbs in behind him and they sit like they’re in a canoe 😂 our it’s a sturdy pushchair and although it’s led back all the far it’s still balanced so it won’t tip over if I let go.

live and let live ain’t it?

I do this too Grin

Some of mine have loved the basket under the pram when they were toddlers/preschoolers- voluntarily stuffed themselves in there while their brother was in the pram

Sometimes you do what you've gotta do to get from A-B.
I've seen toddlers stood inside a "granny" shopping trolley being pulled along.

I've never done this, but I have a toddler and teenagers, and I'm shocked at how expensive everything is now compared to when my teens were little. I'm a safety nut so I probably wouldn't do this but so can understand why someone would.

The basket of my pram holds 22kg which is the same weight limit as my smaller buggy. Toddler loves the novelty but I would think this was a 'needs must' situation rather than a regular occurrence.

My daughter had a double decker buggy, I always laughed and said it looked like she was putting the bottom one in the shopping basket underneath
