can I have a little vent? I mean it’s a minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things but it is an annoyance all the same.
I’ve come off Facebook recently for various reasons, one of which is the amount of sanctimonious, frankly bossy, virtue-signally “look how good I am, look how much I CARE” posts from the same group of contacts. You know the type. The ones who take it upon themselves to be moral guardian of their Facebook contacts.
“Don’t forget to check your bonfires for hedgehogs!”
”don’t forget to check your car for cats getting a heat!”
”remember to leave the undecorated houses alone this Halloween!”
”remember! The big presents are from mum and dad and the shitey ones are from Santa!”
and so on.
last year it was apparently all the rage to be telling people to take their dead pumpkins to the park for the squirrels but this year, it is a big no no (consistently throw mine in the bin, this info is useless to me).
it’s not about the messages. It’s not that I disagree with the messages. I like hedgehogs as much as the next person and have no desire to accidentally boil one. It’s the tone. The condescending, holier-than-thou, “look at meeee being so good” tone.
these posts are now infiltrating my Teams channels at work, there is no escape.
stop telling me what to do!!
