Wtf is this lump on my finger?? (Pictures attached)

I keep getting small red bumps around the inside of the joints of my fingers - it gets worse around winter time. They’re not on the skin and they’re not warts etc, they feel like they’re deeper and coming from the joint itself. they’re small (usually half a cm or so), red and raised. They last anything from a few hours to a few days and new ones pop up and disappear again. Sometimes I’ll have none and other times I’ll have loads. It feels a bit achey and uncomfortable at the joint when I get them.

im 25, fit and healthy and the only thing I’ve got is psoriasis but this definitely isn’t patches of psoriasis.
Does anyone know what it could be? I’ll attach photos below!

Sound like chill blains

mnahmnah · 26/11/2023 20:18

It may be a form of eczema called pomphylix - I had the same. It was brought on by washing my hands too much in the newborn million nappies stage! Steroid cream sorted it

Following as I get these now and again!

I'd say the same. I get this if my hands get too cold, or repeatedly wet.

Oh I actually know someone that had this, great shout but in real life (sorry it’s not clear in the photos!) it doesn’t really look like the blisters with that, it’s more like solid red lumps x

Also should have said too- it’s not itchy in the slightest it’s more painful around the entire joint (eg I could tell which joint has a lump without looking at it because the entire joint feels a bit achey to use my finger)

Looks more like chilblains to me.

I get pompholyx (sp? 😄) sometime, but it doesn't look like this, and the location doesn't really fit either.

O0oO0o · 26/11/2023 20:30

Could it be related to your psoriasis e.g. psoriatic arthritis? I do think any joint pain in a person with psoriasis should probably be checked out by GP.

^soemtimes

Zephirine · 26/11/2023 20:34

Could they be small rheumatoid nodules? I only say this because your joints seem affected. Have you seen a GP?

I had a papilloma (a benign growth) on my finger years ago that looked a little like this, in case that’s worth ruling out. It took ages to diagnose (GP initially thought it was a splinter, then a wart but it didn’t go away with the usual treatment - had to be referred to a hand specialist to confirm what it was!). Had it removed under local anaesthetic, all very straightforward in the end. Whatever it is, worth getting it checked out 😊
