Mine

  • watching old Charlie Brooker Newswipe episodes on YouTube and feeling a bit nostalgic about the days of Ed Milliband, Ed Balls, Nick Clegg, George Osbourne and Cameron. Cameron's ham face, Ed's just non human remarks and cringey trying to be a strong, working class 'every man' comments. I keep rewinding them!
  • watching the Olympics Opening Ceremony for London 2012
  • listening to the early Queen albums and, even worse, Roger Taylor solo albums
  • looking at what the cast of shit reality shows are doing now

What's yours? I hate this feeling that I'm weird and that all other women in their 30's sit around googling yoga retreats and salad recipes, I don't think everyone does. Please let me know what weird shit you google/ watch/ listen to when you're alone.

Birdwatching
1984 Brookside

TsunamiPam · 26/11/2023 17:07

@curtaintwitcher78 what is it about that particular era of Brookside?

@TsunamiPam I've been watching it since they started re-running it from the beginning last year. There are five episodes released per week so we've gone rather quickly from November 1982 to Christmas 1984.
I get lost in it. The decor, the clothes, the misery, the humour. Plus I know Liverpool so it's fun location-spotting.

Watching a Korean family eat Thanksgiving food (mostly with Kimchi)

Watching an interview with David Foster Wallace that always fascinates me and trying to read Infinte Jest for the 1000th time without wanting to both never stop and be totally agitated by the whole mess

Researching various types of dairy products, (Twarog, cottage cheeses, ricotta, etc) cured meats, and sausages (arf)

being overly interested in emerging food markets and the impact of new “western” foods being introduced to the cultures

TsunamiPam · 26/11/2023 17:20

@Finestreason ah yes I can't wait for Greggs to hit Asia. I don't think it will but I dream of it
