Where would Iris, Miles, Amanda and Graham be now, 17 years on? (The Holiday)

Rewatched as trending on Netflix. Unpopular opinion but I have a massive soft spot for this film! Although I was only 14 when it came out and I think it gave me unrealistic ideas of romance 😅

Anyway since we never see beyond the NYE party at the end, what do you think happens in the years gone by? Where are they all now, nearly 2 decades on?

Of course it's unrealistic. Why does everything have to be? I'm going to stay in fantasy world and pretend they're probably not divorced alcoholics arguing over maintenance 😋

Not together. Transatlantic fun might lovely for one holiday but I agree with Amanda. She was a workaholic and he was single parent of 2 very recently bereaved little girls. There's no way they could manage (even on their very healthy salaries) to see each.other regularly or relocate away from family or the film business.

Iris and Miles had a bit more chance but unfortunately I reckon they had a sweet comfortable friendship not a romantic relationship really. Hopefully Iris moved newspapers and they both found someone lovely who loved them properly.

I think I have thought about this too much. I love that film.

I love the Holiday. I’ve seen it a gazillion times and I’m sitting on my hands trying not to watch it before December as I can’t start Christmas this early Grin.

I’m staying with ‘and they all lived happily ever after’.

Iris & Miles would be living in LA. Wealthy from their successful music publishing company they co-own and run together. Two kid, now teens. Happy, rich but low-key, lots of friends and fun.

Amanda & Graham would be in London now, living somewhere Americans love - Primrose Hill, Hampstead maybe. Spending some weekends at Iris’s cottage. Amanda would have a home studio to do her movie trailer work. No kids. Graham’s girls now grown up, having enjoyed a happy childhood in London with their Dad and stepmum, who they’re still very close to Grin.

Iris has bought an electric kettle at last.

Amanda eventually found the Waitrose in Godalming after trying to do her weekly shop in the small gift shop/ deli in the high street.
Miles misses Blockbuster.
Arthur is corrected on where Cary Grant was from.

Love these scenarios 😆

Yes I’m in the ‘happy ever after’ camp
