Aibu to think we could stand a chance with this house?

We unexpectedly got told we need to find a new home 2 weeks ago.....this will be our 3rd move in 5 years.

We cannot buy due to a) our location and b) quite specific and outing circumstances.

I have been stalking right move since we got the news and one evening a house appeared; beautiful and in budget. I felt so drawn to it I honestly couldn't stop jumping around the kitchen.

I sent a nice email there and then detailing our circumstances and how much I loved this house. I've spoken to the agents a couple of times since as all viewings were being held today. The house was off right move within 12 hours of being put up.

We had our viewing today, and my god this house just overwhelmed me - I had tears running down my face by the time we were in the living room! I've never had this before but am so drawn to this house! DP is also besotted!

I am on good terms with estate agent, tbh I think they feel sorry for me lol, so know we'll get a good rec from them but no applications are being sent out until Monday. We then have to be the chosen family out of a full day of viewings.

We have a dog (a lazy doofus who has his own references from our landlord!) Otherwise we are perfectly suitable tenants - family, secure employment, sensible earners etc etc.

I'm gutted that we have such little chance of securing our dream house.

What can we do? All advice and support is welcome - we need this house!

Goodness I've no idea but will be thinking of you on Monday and really hope you are the chosen family.
It sounds like you have fallen in love with this house and hopefully it's meant to be.
Keep us posted and goodluck 🤞

@Thedogscollar Thankyou. We have, I've never walked into a house and had that reaction before at a viewing and am normally the iron woman so it's quite disconcerting lol.

I'm at the point of considering bribery/accidentally wiping out the other viewers 🤣

Can you write a note to the landlord? that's what swung it for us!

I’d just try to put it out of your mind if I were you. You’ll be chosen if you’re chosen and won’t be if you’re not.

If you want a long-term let then make that clear - with most landlords that will definitely be preferable.

Zoologydragon · 26/11/2023 00:22

@MarmaladeMaggie I did this for our current landlord and will do the same for this one. I'll have to send it via the estate agent when we do the application though as we don't have landlord contact details or name yet

It's just a house. If you get it, great but maybe don't get your hopes up. Especially since you have a dog.

Tears running down your face viewing a rental? That's madness!
How can you be so overwhelmed by a house that you will never own and will have to move on from at some point through no choice of your own?
I say this as someone who has always rented, it's the landlords house and you are at the mercy of their choices. It absolutely suck, but you cannot get attached to their houses in this way as you will never be able to own it

@Zoologydragon Did you get it?
