Bra size G

Do you think of a size G cup as huge/normal/only for larger ladies?

I'd always been a D/DD and have slowly increased to a G since having babies. Now I'm worried that my boobs are abnormally large and feeling a bit self conscious

5’ 1” 32G here fitted by Rigby and Peller. Just right imo.

P0mbears · 23/11/2023 06:27

I'm a 36G/34GG, 5ft6 and a size 12.

My weight fluctuates a lot but regardless of what dress size I am, I’m always a GG cup. Bear in mind that the cup size on its own is meaningless, because the cup size is simply the difference between your back measurement and the measurement around your actual boobs. Cup size is calculated on proportion to the back size, not in isolation. So the cup on a 30G bra is a lot smaller than the cup on a 40G bra.

Also, most women wear the wrong size bra. Almost invariably they’re wearing a bra that’s too big on the band and too small in the cup.

I’m evangelical about this. In my circle of friends I’m basically the bra guru.

randomsabreuse · 23/11/2023 07:21

I'm a 28K/KK and unless I dress to emphasise them, mine aren't that massive.

Would love to be a G as bras are much cheaper and more convenient and the right style for my shape actually exists.

Annoyingly I tend to lose weight from my ribs before it comes off my boobs which is frustrating to say the least.

SkandiPandi · 23/11/2023 07:24

28HH. I am very small-framed, BMI around 19 and so my boobs are completely out of proportion. V little choice in this back size. A few styles from bravissimo and that’s it. I hate my boobs but never wanted surgery.

AuntieMarys · 23/11/2023 07:27

I'm a 36G and yes they are big. I hate them. I'm 6 feet tall and slim...was " normal" till children.

AuntieMarys · 23/11/2023 07:28

Oh and not 1 bra in Bravissimo fits me properly...I spent a fruitless 2 hours in there last month. A very expensive journey to Rigby and Peller needed.

Highlyflavouredgravy · 23/11/2023 07:30

I am a gg
I am tall
They are in proportion

NeonSoda · 23/11/2023 07:36

I read the other day that the National average size is a dd cup.

I wear an F cup or a G depending on the shop and I don’t feel particularly big. I mean yes they’re big compete to average but they’re not monstrous.

Lochness1975 · 23/11/2023 07:38

I’m a 36H now. I was a 34k and a size 10 when I was pregnant and for a year after with ds18 then I felt big.

orangeginaa · 23/11/2023 07:41

I've always had large breasts. I used to to have slim waist too but not so much after kids!
Top tips:

  • Bravissimo is your friend.
  • you can't follow all the trends. Fitted tops are good. Don't wear tops that hang loose over your boobs. It makes you look much larger.
  • wrap tops for the win
  • be careful with shirts as they make me look very boxy.
orangeginaa · 23/11/2023 07:42

Oh, and you need to wear two sports bras when exercising. Ideally one that fastens at the back and one that zips at the front.

filthypride · 23/11/2023 07:51

Hello! Non existent, don't need a bra woman here!

I just want to say I'm incredibly envious of anyone who wears an A and above ....

OP - Try not to feel self conscious, embrace your bigger sized boobs. I don't automatically assume because a lady has big breasts they are big. I've known a few women who are tiny and have really large breasts naturally, like you they dislike them so it's not uncommon, but as a lady with the body of a boy, I am a tad jealous x

Toddlerteaplease · 23/11/2023 07:57

I'm a G, they are in proportion!

doitwithlove · 23/11/2023 08:04

Size J here, I purchased recently some lovely fully supporting bras from Bra stop.com - 👍🏻

If you need to wear two sports bras then you are wearing the wrong sports bra.

Firstly, you need to get a bra that offers the correct level of support. So high impact sports will need more support than a low impact sport. I wear low support sports bras for things like powerlifting and cycling and a medium support sports bra for aeroics style classes and circuit training.

Secondly, they have a limited lifespan. You should aim to replace them regularly depending on how much you wear them. I normally get 6-12 months out of mine, maximum. If I was doing very high impact activity regularly I would replace them every 6 months max.

You don't have the body of a boy. You have the body of a woman with small breasts.

Maddy70 · 23/11/2023 10:45

I'm a G. I do think as I r got older they look more matronly than sexy

SnacksToTheMax · 23/11/2023 10:49

It will depend on body type and frame. 32G here, and size 14 with narrow waist/wide hips. I’d say I look in proportion - definitely not “large” or particularly attention-grabbing!

nutsnutspistachionuts · 23/11/2023 10:53

I was a G/GG after breastfeeding, now "only" an F. I'm a tall size 16.

More people are wearing F+ now due to the increase in people measuring in the modern/Bravissimo/bra intervention style, not the old style "add 5". This results in a smaller back and a larger cup. So someone wearing a G now might have been put in an E back in the day. Or still would be if they go to M&S.

scratchyfannyofcocklane · 23/11/2023 11:04

I'm 32ff/G depending on brand and wouldn't describe mine as massive or indeed any larger than average.. .

Radiatorlife · 23/11/2023 11:06

As others have said, very much depends on your back size. A 28G cup is much much smaller that a 40G cup. Rule of thumb is that as the back size increases, the cup size decreases - so a 30G would be the equivalent cup size as a 32F or a 34E etc. I wear a 32H and I don’t think my breasts are abnormally large!

Elastica23 · 23/11/2023 11:12

34DD here, - for me personally G would be enormous and I would have to add a lot of weight and body fat to be that size, so it would be really uncomfortable. I much prefer being a size 12 with smaller boobs than when I was a size 16/18 and my breasts were so heavy.

BeardieWeirdie · 23/11/2023 11:17

I’m a 30FF/G. I think they look big when naked but in properly fitted, non-padded bras I don’t look ridiculous.

SugarLatte · 23/11/2023 11:18

I’m a 28G, 5ft 6in, size 8-10 definitely don’t think mine are big at all. Also, you say you’re a size 12, I’d say you’re likely to be a smaller bra band than a 34/36
