To put up Christmas lights outside to cheer up DS even though it’s November?

DS wants me to put up Christmas lights outside. Not just a few fairy lights in the porch, but the bushes, trees, all of it. None of the neighbours have done anything yet except for a few door wreaths. I feel like it’s too early but it would really cheer up DS, who has been having a rough time recently. WWYD?

Do it! I've got some outdoors - put them up for a party and I've added some more to them since, decidedly festive. My nephew loves them every day he's round so it's worth it to me!

StrawberryWillow · 19/11/2023 19:19

I would definitely do it

SerenaBeans · 19/11/2023 19:19

Do it! My neighbours have them up, and it's no one's business but yours anyway!

I put my tree up to cheer up DS yesterday :)

Put them up? Literally no one else’s opinions matter here.

BeetyAxe · 19/11/2023 19:20

Do it, god knows everyone could do with some cheerfulness and if it makes your DS happy then so what. Hope he’s ok.

bossybloss · 19/11/2023 19:21

Why don’t you just put them up gradually? Some this week, some next etc

meagert · 19/11/2023 19:22

DS and I got very excited seeing our first set of decorations up on Friday, I'm sure you would make others happy too, as well as your son.

wildthingsinthenight · 19/11/2023 19:22

Absolutely do it!
And I hope it cheers your DS up

Ours went up yesterday to coincide with a light switch on we attended with our 4yo. Were the first in our village and they’re bringing g a lot of joy to passers by. Do it!

Thanks all. That’s a good idea about doing it gradually. And that way I can keep cheering him up with a little extra ✨✨every few days

On my way into work tonight Ive seen many houses adorned with lights, and seeing as Diwali was last week I'm inclined to think this is the start of the big Christmas light up!
Do it, it's cheery on these dark nights.

thanks everyone! We put up some lights. Not all. But enough to cheer up DS.
