To think this doctor shouldn’t be a doctor?

I went to the doctors with dp about a month ago and he saw the doctor that everyone tries to avoid seeing because of his odd comments/behaviour - at a previous appointment he said that autism/ADHD ect. were not real things and were just made up by society 🙄

So I went into this appointment with him where he was asking about changing his antidepressant and his mental health in general.

On the topic of changing his medication dp asked about the other types of antidepressants and if he could maybe try something else as the ones he has tried were not working and the doctor said that all medications are just drugs that some scientists decided were the ones they were going to make legal to prescribe to patients and that taking antidepressants was really no different to taking illegal drugs and that he has a therapist friend who recommends ketamine to her patients and that ADHD is treated with the same drugs that are used recreationally. He said that he couldn’t recommend that dp takes drugs as a doctor but he was basically saying he should try them 🙄

On the topic of work and sick notes the doctor said that there are people in other countries who have no money and live perfectly happy lives even though they have no homes or income so it wouldn’t be a bad thing for dp to lose his job… He also said that money isn’t real and is just made up by society…

They were talking about if he should stop his medication or change to something else and the doctor said it is your body so it is your choice which is fine but he then turned to me and said “If you wanted to get pregnant and dp didn’t what would you do?” The doctors answer to this question was that women who want to get pregnant with partners who don’t want a child should just stop taking birth control without telling their partner or tamper with the condoms as it is their body so it is their decision…😱

The doctor also said that dp shouldn’t even listen to him as he’s just a doctor who has studied this stuff for years and then invited me to sit on his exercise ball and take over as I probably know more than him as I have lived experience…

I can’t remember if there was anything else but there probably was. No one wants to see this doctor. Everyone asks for someone else. I have been told that he has books full of complaints from patients (I know someone who works there) and that the only reason he is still working there is because he owns half of the company 😩

Quite remarkable how you know so much about other people’s opinions of this Dr. Really, I mean. Who would talk to you about complaints. And it’s 2023, who keeps complaints in books.

try harder. And see another dr.

If this is real? Report to GMC.

StarlightLime · 16/11/2023 20:36

Of course it's not real.

nocoolnamesleft · 16/11/2023 20:38

Books of complaints? Complaints aren't kept in books, at least not this century.

Binglebong · 16/11/2023 20:41

If this is real then report to the GMC.

ExcellentFabulous · 16/11/2023 21:47

If this is real, then sounds like he's slowly losing it and possibly needs a doctor himself.

He should be reported so he can be looked at. Sounds strange or like someone in the first phase of psychosis or schizophrenia.

overfeckinstimulated · 17/11/2023 00:12

🤣🤣 sorry I shouldn't laugh, but this sounds like a doctor that has totally lost his shit! He's had enough and has just gone off piste. He probably needs to call it a day and retire or something.
Very unprofessional and you should report your concerns to the practice manager.
Sorry your husband had a shit experience, he needs to change surgery and see a different GP

MyCircumference · 17/11/2023 00:19

he owns what company

uncomfortablydumb53 · 17/11/2023 00:25

The GP needs to see a psychiatrist himself!
Can you change surgeries?

CherryMyBrandy · 17/11/2023 00:52

Books full of complaints is just a turn of phrase isn't it?
