HELP - BT Open Reach want to dig up my front lawn, AIBU to say no

BT OR man just called round. Said he was installing a line for my neighbour but the ducts they need can only be accessed under my front lawn.

Obviously I'm not happy about them digging it up and I have stalled him for now. Any advice please?

What are you talking about with 'my interests come first'? How would you feel if your neighbour was being obstructive? The lawn will be made good. It is now November so you are hardly likely to be having garden parties on your front lawn.

Most people don't think that getting a service off a profit making company should involve their neighbours being inconvenienced at all and would be concerned about any impact, especially if it had the potential to be long lasting or bidged (as digging up a front garden does).

You need to check your title plan as part of your garden may be service strip in which case you don't have a choice.

The top end of our front garden is service strip - no pavement, it goes right to the kerb. Previous owners planted up a flowerbed. Eighteen months ago, BT spent a whole morning looking for the thing they needed to update for fibre broadband, and eventually concluded that it was beneath a huge 20 year old New Zealand flax in our border. They said it would have to be dug up and someone would be back, but we have heard nothing further.

You sound like a complete PITA neighbour. A written statement of work, timescales and a named contact to dig up your lawn - behave!

let your neighbour get their internet, open reach will put your turf back.

My thoughts exactly 🤣🤣
