I've been off work Monday afternoon and today. I thought I had food poisoning after a take away on Sunday as I had diarrhoea and a fever. Slept for 20 hours.
I still feel awful, stuffy nose, temperature and no taste. I'm now thinking flu/covid.
Dh and dds now feel the same and dh didn't eat the takeaway.
I'm off Friday- pre booked holiday and think I'll struggle at present to concentrate at work. I wfh so it's easy but need to focus.
Wibu to call in sick Wednesday and Thursday?

The new strain of covid does cause diarrhoea and blocked nose so it could be.
If you are too unwell to work then call in sick, no point battling on, you don’t get any better thought of!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 14/11/2023 18:31

You might end up doing that quite reasonably but surely you can’t know how you’ll feel on Thursday until it comes?

But of course call in sick each day you are too unwell to work.

Good grief, how is this even a question? Are you ill? If yes, stay off. Problem solved.

Stressedgiraffe · 14/11/2023 18:41

I know it should be easy. I just feel guilty as we're busy. But as I have the attention span of a gnat atm it's probably better I stay off

I would ring in sick, be careful though because in my place of work if you have not done a return to work before a booked holiday off then the holiday is cancelled and your time off is still counted as sick days.

MaliciaKeys · 14/11/2023 18:44

You’ll need to call in on Friday and say you’re better and taking your planned annual leave.

Stressedgiraffe · 14/11/2023 18:45

It's only 1 day holiday. I need to use up holiday time by the end of the month.

If you’re sick, call in sick. If you’re just a bit under the weather and able to concentrate but would rather not, then go to work.

You can’t possibly know how you’ll feel on Thursday, and given your day off Friday I think calling in sick ahead for Friday would raise eyebrows.

Stressedgiraffe · 14/11/2023 18:48

I've called in sick for tomorrow. I'll see how I am tomorrow night.

I have put yabu because you are an adult, with your own mind who is unwell. You don’t need strangers on the internet to validate your choices 🙄

I understand that. But in my work place if you call in sick thursday, do not do a return to work before your shift friday and take the day off it will be classed as another sick days not a days holiday.

Lastchancechica · 14/11/2023 18:58

Buckle up op because the new strain is horrid. You can’t help being ill.

Duckling89 · 14/11/2023 19:03

I’m feeling rotten at the moment with a similar illness but I haven’t called in sick for tomorrow yet as I’m always optimistically hoping I’ll wake up better! I would think it a bit strange if someone in my team called in sick for the rest of the week, unless it was something serious or with an option long-term impact.
